Glad we got to ride it on our last trip in April. My 10 year old daughter loved this ride, as did me and The Wife. The moving theater was such a groundbreaking and unique ride system. Sad to see this and UoE go.

Not to speak ill of the dead, but I never understood why you exit the theater room to get to the load area. Wouldn't it make more sense story-wise to board in the theater room and then go "into" the screen? Anyhow, it was no less a great ride and a still-relevant premise.

Should've been updated rather than replaced.

Agreed. When I hear runway railway I think of a train on tracks or something, and this is in the chinese theater. Imagineering has flown the coop I guess, I dont know. Its very sad what they have become.

The idea is that you're viewing a Mickey short, but then get sucked into it.

On my final ride tonight, we had the gangster scene. The car wasn't moving (it was this afternoon).

We lingered in Munchkin Land. It was emotional.

It's hard to image they are shutting down Oz.

You know, if Uni had any sense (they have a little), they'd grab Oz and make a big beautiful dark ride set there. It could certainly handle it.

I actually think there's about a 25% chance they do this.

Like many here, I'm sad to see this unique experience close.
It was a one-off...and a must-ride every visit.

I real disappointment that Disney didn't feel motivated to invest in changing a few scenes or enhancing some of the already existing ones.
This Attraction could have easily gone on for another twenty years had the proper efforts and interest exsisted.
But alas, no.....we will be seeing an entirely new kind of 'moving picture' now.

Thank you, 'The Great Movie Ride', for being the heart of the ol' Disney / MGM Studios / Hollywood Studios.
I for one, shall miss your Park presence.

That's a wrap, folks.
Turn off those spotlights.
You have had a good run at the box office.

A Mickey short animated in Flash. Playing in a theatre.

You know, the old MGM had an identity problem. It never hung together as well as it should.

Disney is solving that by just eliminating the idea of a park identity altogether. The new MGM is a collection of things.

I was there tonight with @LetsGoToo and we also went to the charity event Friday night and did a walk through of the Great Movie Ride and had dessert in the Wizard of Oz scene and the finale theatre. Very bittersweet weekend. I had no idea I would be so emotional.
