Sooner they get rid of the GMR and the Chinese Theater facade the better. The facade is just way too small. The park needs a massive icon such as the other parks at WDW. The attraction had a 27 year run and that's more than enough. They could put a GotG dark ride inside. For the icon they could have a huge Ferris wheel in the shape of a giant film reel.
Bigger is not always better..

@marni1971 , any idea how long the ride will be? GMR is, what, ~20 min? I guess in this age that length is probably out of question. But any chance we are going at least 8-9 min ride instead of standard sub-5? And as always, fully understand if you can't elaborate.
I don't have figures, but if it's half the GMRs 22 minutes I'll be surprised.

It certainly looks a lot less than 11.

I was initially disappointed when I heard that the new E-Ticket was not a new ride aside from the GMR. However, if this is going to be an LPS ride through Mickey's greatest hits in movies, I actually think that sounds like a great concept. And it keeps with the idea of having an IP-based park, with Mickey obviously being the ultimate IP for this company.

Will this be an AA ride, a screen ride, or a hybrid akin to the impressive Mystic Manor? Or is that top secret knowledge?

I guess I need to face reality and realize that it's just my family and a few others who truly loved the old classic film tie ins and theming...alas..let them eat cake..

Now, how to break the news to my mom...

Oh, no, I'm with you. And I don't think we are a small group. If classic movies were such a bust, then TCM's classic movie cruise, on DCL no less, would have only been once. I understand it's usually a sellout or close to each cruise.

There will be screens. I'm assuming it's a progression from Mystic Manor.

A Mickey Mouse ride inside Mickey's head. Appropriate.

I've never seen an aerial photo of DHS like that. That is so cool. Didn't realize that DHS was a hidden Mickey.

I bet they turn a good chunk of that space into a shop, break rooms, etc, the ride floor plan will probably be greatly reduced? But if you were to empty that building it would be HUGE in there.

I just hope that they think about having a grand gift shop where we can buy T-Shirts, plush, and plastic! Perhaps as we're exiting the ride...

Some kind of "emporium"...

Not at all. Didn't bother to ride Energy, even in the heat and the possibility of it closing. You can't even compare the two. My kids, 8 and 3, who have only seen a few of the movies, love this ride into the movies. It could use some love, but it's still relevant to enough people that wait times run from 15-45 minutes regularly. Clearly surveys were designed to doom this attraction.

We can debate how good or bad GMR is all day, but that's not even important here. The truth is DHS needs more attractions, and GMR seems like a silly place to start. How are Indy or Launch Bay going to remain once the park is renamed and SWL opens? Sure it's cheaper to gut GMR for this, but is that best long term?

Disney used to add attractions to spread out crowds and give guests something new to experience. Now it's just reusing what's already there, regardless of whether something needs replacing or not. Crowds keep growing, capacity stays the same or even lessens. Terrible plan IMO.

I like GMR. Just saying I would find attractions where I could cool off for a while. It was posted that GMR is actually 22 minutes. Okay. In the summer I would do that in its current incarnation, the 45 minute Energy, HoP, Tiki Birds, CoP, American Adventure, etc.

I hope it's a hybrid of both. Imagine the possibilities for what a section dedicated to The Sorcerer's Apprentice would be like. I'm imagining it to be like the final section of Mystic Manor where you are spinning around the room a few times while crazy stuff is going on. But we see Mickey in the middle doing this complete with water effects which might wet some riders depending on the section there are located at while the room is dark.
