There were studies several months ago that said masks do provide some protection to the person wearing them. I know I may try to wear a mask from now on if a person next to me on a flight is visibly sick. Maybe you would feel better if you continued to wear a mask after the powers that be decide they are no longer necessary to protect others, especially if most are vaccinated and the numbers come down. You're not the only person I've heard express that concern.
And if you are really concerned (since it will be a shift coming but I doubt before you go.. at all) if an individual decides to protect themselves versus other protecting them, the much more effective and better fitting N95 masks are widely available everywhere. My daughter has been required to wear them exclusively as an RN during the pandemic. There was an announcement about this availability and I don't doubt some emphasis may be placed in the future for self protection for vulnerable unvaccinated and those who object.

No doubt, but some here seem to think that it's an immediate change based on the order. I won't be surprised if it takes at least a month to get it planned and rolled out.
It makes more sense to me for them to organize and mobilize a plan first unless they were in talks with the county plans ahead of time. I think the decent thing would be a 30 day heads up on major changes for people locked into their reservations. If they announce soon, it could be as soon as June.

Thanks. I'm actually concerned more about my 7 year old son as he can't be vaccinated and can't bring myself to put an N95 on him. My husband was given a box of KN95 masks from his job that they didn't end up needing but I don't think they are ideal for children. My husband says they would be pretty uncomfortable to him especially in the heat. I prefer cloth for little ones.

I know I'm overreacting if they do change policy. Outdoors is low risk and 3 feet is better than no feet. I really dread those long indoor lines though. Someone was hacking up a phlegmy lung behind us in the toy story mania line last summer. Six feet didn't feel like much in that moment, let me tell you 🤣😬 😷

The first move will be 3 feet in queues and perhaps removal of the “stationary” part of the outdoor eating or drinking policy. No need for advance notice for those things. Announce it the night before.

If they don't give advance notice - cue the people who will say they booked their vacations thinking Disney had stricter social distancing and mask policies at time of booking and will be upset if these changes happen before trip.

Not commenting if right or wrong, just that it will happen! :D

How many canceled over the maskless pictures? Maybe 1 Karen. We can afford to lose at least 4 more.

Everyone will start walking around with a water bottle in their hand if that's the case. Maybe it doesn't matter being outside, but to me that's almost just removing outdoor masks completely. Keep the actively part of the description?

It’s honestly a temporary step down. I imagine there will be no masks anywhere outdoors by July 4. Probably a bit before.

That didn’t change anyone’s safety. I don’t think indoor dining should have been open at Disney but even I don’t see any issue with taking off a mask for a socially distanced photo outdoors.
You can’t leave your house and expect everyone to wear a mask outdoors anymore, because of CDC guidance. So if you don’t feel safe going on a hike, WDW is not a good option.

Sure. Get vaccinated soon if you haven’t. Mask season is coming to a close. Thank goodness we have a powerful solution.
Lol. I don’t think Disney World is making any decisions based on my desires. Otherwise the entire park experience would be streetmosphere and transportation rides!

There will be people booking a Disney trip because they feel Disney is being extra cautious with masks and distancing. Disney knows that.

Yes. And they’ve always said they’ll follow CDC guidance. That guidance is changing. At some point, people need to get vaccinated or choose to live with risk. Choosing not to get vaccinated but expecting everyone else to maintain last year’s protocols is unreasonable. And the Karens clutching at their pearls over their unvaccinated children should consider the hypocrisy over having their children sort-of-masked in school, almost 3 feet apart (but not really) while claiming Disney would be putting their kids in danger allowing distanced people to take their masks off outdoors. Am I to believe those people won’t take their children to the beach or pool this summer but will take them on Dumbo? Please. I think there are very few people who will send their maskless children down the Keister Coaster water slide but complain about a maskless, vaccinated gentleman eating popcorn on Hollywood Blvd. But, I’m sure all three of those sanctimonious Karens are fully-equipped to convince a poor CM to refund their money over the phone so they can rent an AirBnB in the Appalachians away from The Diseased Hoard.

Thats true, but there would likely be multiple times more who will book a Disney trip if they continue to relax the mask policy- Disney knows that too.

Well... currently Disney doesn’t want more people so that’s not an issue until they do.
Yes, but we obviously aren’t talking about this week, but in the coming weeks and months. Even NYC where I am (Everyone knows their population density and politics) stated today they will fully reopen by July 1.

NYC is not going to fully reopen on July 1 and you know it.

40+ broadway theaters are closed with no reopening announcements so far although the West End Shows are starting to announce reopennings so we shall see.
