News Disney mask policy at Walt Disney World theme parks

Excited to hear this for myself since I’ll be there on April 11th but also interested how people might find a way to abuse the relaxed policy. The “remain socially distanced” part is a part I’m sure many people will seem to not read.

well actually... here's my theory

I think disney wants vaccine passports.....They just can't come out and say that right now.

This new mask thing will cause issues, they know that. God bless those CMS.
The CM unions may fight for it.
This change may give Disney grounds to require it.

Down the line this could present them with the opportunity to say "hey you know what, its getting hard to control this, to make it easy and safe for our CMS and guests, we are now going to require that everyone is vaccinated.No more masks, just vaccinations."

I think they want proof of vaccines.

The challenge of this is that there are lots of children who go to Disney World and they will not even be eligible for vaccinations for quite a while.

I doubt Disney CMs will ever be fully vaccinated, as in all staff, they can be fully vaccinated but it will not be 100% all staff

Or at least to the point that they have all had a shot at getting it then its a personal decision to not protect yourself.

Majority is 50%. I think we're well on the way to have over 50% vaccinated.

For sure. Doesn't mean that people have to carry around a card in their purse/wallet like it's an ID though.

Good theory, but, the push for vaccine passports is loosing steam by the minute. Just plain not practical, reasonable and truly workable great for debate or interesting discussion though.

Hawaii will have one. No doubt in my mind. Not explicitly mandatory to enter the state, but mandatory to get you out of a 10-day quarantine.

Due to the Hawaii quarantine requirements I do not see a lot of validity to a vaccine passport for travel purposes to or from the islands. That said, I am sure Hawaii is looking at it seriously.

We will still wear our masks for pictures when we go in May. Will give us something to look back on. Now if I can just get people off my back in lines, I will be golden.

From Disney's perspective, they could realistically do it now. The response to any pushback would be "The vaccine is available nationwide. If you've been vaccinated and are still afraid, you should stay at home until you're no longer afraid."

I can't imagine Disney telling tourists to "stay home" under any circumstances.

Show them a negative test, you get to skip the quarantine.

Finally some common sense. Unless you are indoors or in an outdoor queue the mask requirement should be lifted completely. Hopefully that day is coming soon.

I would think both negative test results and vaccine cards would be easy to forge, so I'm not sure how useful that documentation is, but I can see what you're saying.

Like I said, they're doing it already. You don't get to just print out a piece of paper, there's an app and verification and yada yada.

I’m glad vaccines are widely available in most places. Let’s hope that WDW can soon host entertainment again!

I see nothing earth shattering about this minor adjustment.

"Face coverings are required for all Guests (ages 2 and up) and Cast Members, including those who have received a COVID-19 vaccine. Please bring your own face coverings and wear them at all times, except when dining or swimming. You may temporarily remove your face covering while actively eating, drinking or taking an outdoor photo*, but you must be stationary and maintain appropriate physical distancing during this time.

(*Beginning April 8)"

Its pretty major because it means there's an end in sight to masks in general and I expect the end is sooner than we initially thought.

I have a feeling this is what's behind it. That and they don't want their CM's to have to yell at people for taking off their masks for a second to snap a photo.
