I don't. I'm seeing a goofy bit of mask theater going on where I live. We're friendly with several employees in grocery stores and restaurants. What I've heard is that in many cases, employers are requiring vaccinated employees to wear masks because they want their customers to perceive that the business is providing the safest environment. Vaccinated customers feel safe, but are wearing masks because the employees are wearing masks, so it seems like the right thing to do. In the meantime, there's a whole lot of unnecessary mask-wearing going on.

That's why I asked a previous poster about the notion of "respecting" employees by wearing a mask. As long as the customers are still mostly masked, businesses are likely to force their vaccinated employees to continue wearing masks.

My own practice (not giving advice to anyone else) is to go unmasked whenever it's allowed, and I don't worry if the employees are wondering about my actual vaccination status. If the employees are vaccinated, they are protected (according to the CDC). If they are not vaccinated - and are worried that I'm a maskless unvaccinated threat to them - the answer is for them to get vaccinated. Getting vaccinated is the ultimate expression of respect. An actual, real, effective form of respect.
You are absolutly correct that there is a whole bunch of unnecessary theater. We are now in the feelings part of mask wearing. Luckily my area has moved past that stage , if you are lucky you might see 5% wearing masks now indoors anywhere.

Northern Virginia. We are about 50/50 mask free in outdoor group settings, but everyone wears them going into stores, restaurants, and other businesses. Schools still require students to wear them full time, so that probably adds to the normalcy factor.
The more shocking part of this isn't 100% indoor mask usage, it's 50% outdoor mask usage. What on earth...?

100% stores make their decisions based on what they perceive customers will want. When this whole thing started, one of our local stores would not let their employees wear masks at all because they did not want to "alarm" the customers. Then they did an about face and mandated masks, but not just any mask, it had to be the ones that they provided. The problem was that the masks where only 1 size so they did not fit a good 60% of employees properly. Mid way, they changed to another mask, this one with the company logo on it but it had the same issues. When asked if an employee could wear their own(plain color) mask that fit their face, they said the the mask was "part of your uniform". I'm sorry, are we not wearing these to save lives or as a fashion statement? That kind of corporate mentality is beyond comprehension.

I'm not calling them oblivious. I have not seen too many places with big, obvious, "masks not required for fully vaccinated customers" signs (although there is a nearby restaurant with a "Masks NOT Required" sign (with that coloring and capitalization). People who don't really care about it aren't following the policy changes of every place they go.

Does anybody think that Disney will place signs at the beginning of queues that say "Face Coverings not Required for Fully Vaccinated Guests?"

It's not disrespectful for somebody (like me) who is fully vaccinated to follow the policy in place and not wear a mask when not required. If somebody feels good because they think it shows respect for others to do so then by all means wear one.

well to be fair..:the masks signs have been replaced with the “in accordance with local guidelines” signs...

I didn’t expect flashing neon lights.

it will take time.

Blink, blink. Breathe, breathe. Day in, day out.
After just coming back from our week long disney trip.... requiring masks indoors is a joke (whether you believe in them or not). Everyone is being piled in just like they were before covid in lines. Nobody is standing on any of the markers in queues, we’re not that spaced out between parties in shows as it is... there’s literally no point

This is me. We dropped required masks at work about a month ago and all but two or three individuals continued to mask 100% of the time even though they were vaccinated. I waited a week or so and stopped wearing mine. I still wear it any time I interact with a member of the public or if anyone asks me to. But we're still at about 90% mask wearing among fully vaccinated staff. Meanwhile I am loving the mask free life.
