This is just not true. I'm planning on moving to the WDW area in another year & a 1/2, and I've been looking at apartments. There are plenty in the $700-$800 range.
Please share some listings. Also, define "WDW area".

There are some of them in West Orlando.

That nowhere near the parks, and in a very VERY rough neighborhood. That's why it's so cheap.
I ran a hotel 3 miles from the parks. Do you think my single employees (or married with families) lived anywhere near Disney? That is in the crime hills area but over by UCF there are literally 100s of apartment complexes for reasonable rent. Rarely does an employee of a business in a wealthy area live in that same area. They own a vehicle and they commute to work. Very few of the CMs, managers, or musicians I know live anywhere near the parks.

If one lives near University of Central FL, that's about 35 miles away from WDW, at least 1 hour commute and that's on a mild traffic day . But the Silver Star area by Pine ( Crime ) Hills is very dangerous and actually not too far from Universal Orlando.

I'd suggest instead of researching on social media which is helpful, come to Orlando for a week and drive around these apts and nearby areas , in your price range day and night. You will really get an eye opener.

From UCF proper to Disney, it's a 60 mile round trip commute. At Disney wages, that's unsustainable.

They're effectively adding almost another $700/mo in commuting expenses (based on the standard reimbursement rate of 56 cents per mile, and assuming 5 work days per week over 4 weeks). And this isn't counting tolls, which will be approximately $5 per round trip, another $100/mo.

Plenty of non toll routes like right down Colonial. There are also other areas close to Poinciana or Southwest of Disney like Lakeland. If you think most people have less than a 30 minute commute to work, you are gravely mistaken.

Please don't try and explain the city that I grew up in, where I have countless family in, go to more times than I care to admit, and still own real estate in to me.

Colonial and Disney don't intersect at all, and at their closest points are nearly 9 miles apart.

Lakeland is equally as far from property as UCF.

Poinciana is actually a decent option if you want to work at the parks, but it's the middle of nowhere.

I also lived in Orlando, still have properties and family there and know the area quite well. I used Lakeland as an example because a lot of CMs live there due to l4 being a direct route. I'm sure you are also aware that Colonial and I4 intersect ;)

Yep, in downtown - way out of the way

If some work an overnight shift perhaps living a little far away is not so bad. Driving to and from work when many are asleep. Also for the long time staff who works many years for WDW those folks might have bought homes far away years ago when I-4 wasn't as busy as it is now.

And Lakeland is generally cheaper to live than in Orlando.

Go to apartments.com and search for Kissimmee, FL. Maybe some of the places ain't so hot, but they are there.

I saw them.

5 choices.

1 is 55+, so doesn't qualify most people, and the other four choices hadn't been updated in weeks, which makes me doubt the accuracy of the post.

Three Fountains near JYP in Kissimmee is cheap starting at $749, generally low income, welfare residents in a sketchy part of town. Apply at your own risk.
