Im just gonna say my peace and that’ll be that. Both versions of the show are cute and something different to enjoy during your day. This was never promised to be the Fantasmic of Animal Kingdom. It’s a colorful and fun festival of kites and that’s okay. Y’all are real quick to tear apart a show you haven’t even seen in person. You all constantly beg for new and more entertainment. They tried to step out of the box and do something different and fun. Don’t pretend to champion more entertainment and then tear it down before you’ve seen it in person.

..and by the way, the show isn’t “cheap”.. The large kites were designed in Australia and the props used by the cast in the theatre were made by Michael Curry. Literally, millions were put into this.
If millions were put into this they need to fire everyone involved in this project design

How soon can I buy one of these kites at the outlets?
Keep an eye on aliexpress. They’ve already got a great looking Donald so I’m sure it’s only a matter of time.

For what it’s worth, these type of inflatable “kites” aren’t really kites. They’re commonly called “line laundry” and dangle below the actual kites that hold them up - in this case, it’s those white parafoils you see above in the videos (Zazu is a real kite, though). Normally, this kind of thing just stands still bobbing a little with the wind keeping them inflated which is in part, why they they look so weird being dragged back and forth the way they’re doing, here.

I wanted to like it, I really did, but this is garbage. I’m sure they had good intentions, but I give this literally weeks before guest feedback causes changes.

@marni1971, you better get footage quick for version 1 of this show

Ok, to be fair. If this were just something that happened a few times a day to entertain you as you walk by, then sure, it might work. As an amphitheater show... no. For instance, this concept would be fine in the World Showcase lagoon. A fun little surprise as people walk around. To expect people to dedicate time to sit in direct mid-day sunlight to watch this is laughable. You can tell the performers with the puppets are an afterthought as a really, really half-baked attempt to make a legit show out of it.

Okay I've watched the videos now. It's cute, colourful, and fun. It does what it sets out to do, which is be a kite show. I actually find it unique and fun, and the audience seemed to dig it.

I also enjoyed all the jet skis at the end buzzing around and waving to the crowd, nice to see them get some appreciation.

I'm actually impressed at how well they land the kites in the far amphitheatre section.

Sit there and watch kites? I'd prefer they just fly kites here and there at certain times and you see them as you walk by. Kites look cool, but I'm done watching kites after a few seconds. Be nice if they let guests take turns fly them for like, a minute or two, under supervision.

This show looks weak and undesirable when watching the video of the soft opening. There is nothing to it. It will not last.
If it's just kites floating up there. Be nice if they can make the kites interact, but I can't imagine that happening. Might get the strings tangled.

Agreed Be very cool to see neat kites flying in the World Showcase lagoon. Be even nicer if they let guests line up to fly the kites for a minute or two, with their help. If the kite show doesn't work out, I hope Disney will do this instead.
