Confirmed! Wakanda will be the new gate!
Universal contract aside, a Wakanda land in DHS could be really cool... That's where it fits best because there you are 'immersed in the movies'.

Of course that can never happen unless Disney somehow magically gets the Marvel rights back.

I could see BP in the LAND Pavilion, talking about Wakanda and the preservation of life in Africa maybe even about mining resources and how that has to be handled well with the ecosystem. Just a thought. Also this type of use of an IP doesnt bother me.

None of our reliable insiders have ever given a hope or hint that Wakanda will ever appear anywhere in WDW. And there's a good reason for that...

And for BP? Nope. Nope. Nope.

Is there a break down (in writing or detailed charts) of Marvel IP’s that Can Not be used in WDW?? You get tired of hearing the Rain Man statements of “ this IP will go here or there” when there no way it will happen. Universal has a 99.9% chance of never giving up the rights of those characters. There are lots of characters Disney can develop that would not violate the terms of their contract.

Basically, it's Hulk, Spider-Man, Avengers, X-Men, and the Fantastic Four, *and*, the characters in their 'family.' If the character is not in those families, and has not been used significantly, then WDW can use them.

As far as MCU Marvel Superhero Characters goes, that means only Guardians, Doctor Strange, and most likely, Captain Marvel can be used in WDW.

TV-related supers could also be leveraged into the WDW parks, such as DareDevil, but problem is that the TV supers are not as popular as the cinematic characters and tend to be less family-friendly.

And they really dropped the ball on the Inhumans, which was supposed to be in the MCU, then went to TV, where it bombed.

Except the Inhumans royal family are used in posters in IoA.

And regardless of what characters they can/cannot use, they can't use the Marvel branding at all in the parks for attractions on the east coast. Even the posters (at one point, I can't quite recall if they found a workaround) at DHS didn't bear any marvel branding.

All in all, Disney isn't likely to do anything outside of guardians on the east coast (maybe meet and greets, but again, not branded). For this, I am glad. Let the other resorts have marvel lands. Give us new and original attractions.

Captain Marvel is probably out. Before Carol Danvers had that moniker, she was Ms. Marvel, and was with the Avengers since the 1970s.

appearing in a poster does not make them unusable.

FYI anything in the central meteor crash site with the "meteor shards" across from Spiderman (Central to the story of the island) is an enumeration of characters specifically called out in a contract addendum. If it's there it's a safe bet WDW cannot use it. Aka the "shards rule". If it's not there its in more of a gray area.

Google street view of it is https://www.google.com/maps/@28.470...4!1seIOU4CqHG5K-_R0QWZNYGA!2e0!7i13312!8i6656 -- It's been repainted and redone since that photo, but the art remained the same.

Dr. Strange is not there (The character that somewhat resembles him is actually the "Angel/Archangel" character from the 1960s), nor is the Guardians, however Drax is off limits. Captain Marvel is NOT there (Doesn't mean disney can use her, it just puts them in the gray area similar to Dr. Strange, so she can probably be used in limited faction, the name of the character however makes it really interesting because of the name "Marvel" clause, though). Black Panther is there and cannot be used.

This is the first I've heard of that.

By 'addendum', do you mean the character list mentioned in the contract, or some later list agreed to between Disney and Uni?

My gut is telling me something has to be planned for this pavilion in the near future.... Disney does not just spend money on making a empty space look good if that was not the case.... Even if in 2 years this area is busy with the new Guardians ride why spend the money now.

Captain Marvel is probably out. Before Carol Danvers had that moniker, she was Ms. Marvel, and was with the Avengers since the 1970s.

In the 70's she only had occasional team-ups with the Avengers, and she was appearing in non-Avengers comics before that. This is the same situation as Doctor Strange.

@marni1971 has said several times (before Chapek showed up with his entourage and things changed): Fixing a roof is not a sign of changing the use for the building. If WDW intends to keep using the WoL Pavilion for festivals and private events, they'd still have to stop the current roof from leaking and/or collapsing.

But, with the Chapek visit, the insider talk has changed to the possibility of an attraction. And since nothing seems to be greenlit yet, depending on the budget, it may go back to being a festival site for a few years or for ever.

As it turns out, I can't find her on the posters and banners (unlike Black Panther), so she could end up being a maybe. That would definitely be a win for Disney.

Martin has said in the other WOL thread that an attraction may be on the table.

I dont see it being any marvel property at this time... I keep thinking Wall E actually with this area being space if the restaurant actually happens they would have a few attractions all loosely on that theme

I dont disagree with that but they could fix the leak with a lot less work if that is all it is going to be... band aids are way way cheaper and disney knows how to use them well.
