Disney is hiring 1000 full and part time workers for roles across the Walt Disney World Resort

Out of curiousity (because I don't work in IT), what's the red flag?

That either IT management is trying to do way to much to too little staff, or they or the HR doing the recruitment has no idea what they are actually looking for and just list the 20 hot trends in IT. If it was for a small sized company, I can see looking for a generalist. But a company the size of Disney should have their staff somewhat specialized. The guys working on the mail servers shouldn't be the same guys running their antivirus solution.

you will be worked to death

Right. It is typically a sign that the work of two or more people requiring a different set of skills is being placed on the shoulders of one person. It would be like if you were building a house and hired the same person to do the electrical and plumbing. Can it be done, sure but I wouldn’t take the risk. A jack-of-all-trades is the master of none. Or it could be that the person hiring for the position has no clue what they are talking about.

I would like to work there and then again I would not. I loved books my whole life, worked as a store manager for Waldenbook for 5 years in the 90s. I thought it would be my dream job, but in truth working around books all day resulted in the books losing a lot of their magic for me. I would guess working at Disney might be the same.

Now that is full time, as a part time retirement job say 20 hours a week I think it would be great.

Why do you say it's a failure? It seems to be really popular with a majority of those who have used it.
I know some people like the perceived convenience of a rubber band over a plastic card and planning a vacation months in advance. I would prefer instead the investment of the huge amount of cash spent on the program spent on park improvement and new attractions. As in a better Hollywood studios for $1.5 to 2.5 B. Pick a number.

I am not anti Disney. Just of a different opinion as to how I would prefer they grow. I am fortunate to have had the opportunity to travel extensively for work and vacation. I have visited every Disney Park in the world multiple times and I take multiple DCL cruises every year.

I am a Disney stockholder and enjoy the profit the stock has paid me. I am sad at the condition of the Florida parks and lack of improvements for guests who would like more than a rubber band.

How dare you talk bad about the bracelet and the condition of the parks. You are a Disney-hating Low-life. Everything is magical and perfect. MAGICAL!!!!

Fair enough, no doubt there are a boat load of opinions about the way into the future for such a beloved place as WDW.

We used the MB last month for the first time and we thought it was a great improvement to the previous way things were done at WDW. The MBs were used for FP, room keys, DDP, park tickets and forms of payment, not once was there an issue. They worked perfectly for all 5 of us.

I also think the parks looked great, we hit all four multiple times the week we were there and used all forms of Disney transportation. Everything ran on time and was clean, and with the exception of one jerk at Epcot all the CMs were great as well.

Seeing the new construction at DTD, AK and the Poly was cool as well. I am excited to see the outcome of those projects over the next few years.

Most of the feed back I see regarding MB from folks who have used them is on this forum, I would guess that is different from the "average" guest at WDW who most likely is not cruising Disney forums. I wonder what their view on MB is.

Your assumption is flawed in that it assumes that the money spent on MM+ would have gone to park improvement and new attractions. MM+ was a TDA inititative which means TDO was not involved in how the money was spent.

WDW is ALWAYS hiring, especially for part time. The article says "full AND part time". That could mean 999 part time and 1 full time for all we know. Maybe they need a little more than average right now and decided to spin it as a PR piece.
