Disney Insider hints at D23 Expo "sneak peaks"

There was HUGE backlash about Cars and Pixar in general prior to the DCA announcement. Only after the scale model was shown and assurance that they weren't going to be cheap about it did people slowly start settling down.

Clonning Avatar Land makes sense and like I said there is a proposal at imagineering to remove the subs/innoventions/autopia and replace that area with the whole Avatar complex coming to DAK complete with the E and C tickets and even have the Disneyland Railroad enter the show building at one point like on Splash Mountain.

Again, why are you comparing Cars Land backlash to Avatarland backlash? Avatar Land in Disneyland would bring out Incredible Hulk-like anger and hate.

I never heard that proposal/rumor. Turning Innoventions into Stark Expo is a rumor that's been circulating for years. Avatar? When did that happen? None of the insiders here have mentioned anything like that, lately, nor is MiceAge stating such thing.

Avatar Land can be cloned somewhere else besides Anaheim, where it makes no lick of sense in either park.

Well I heard about the proposal from someone I trust and If my memory serves me Al Lutz did mention Avatar rides for Disneyland a long time ago. You may not know this but James Cameron is a futurist and spent a substantial amount of time conceptualizing a future that is plausible and based on future trends. So it does make more than a "lick of sense" to feature his concepts in Tomorrowland considering he basically did the Imagineers work for them coming up with futuristic concepts.

Why am I comparing Cars Land to Avatar Land hate? Because I heard the exact same arguments then...too much pixar in the parks, why build a land on a movie that most people didn't like, how does this make sense with the California theme, etc. There was HUGE rage and backlash about Cars Land and now, 5 years later, totally disappeared. Same thing will happen with Avatar. I dread to think what would have happened if the internet was around back in the 80s when Eisner partnered with George Lucas to bring his franchises and ideas to the parks but then again in those days people had better attitudes and were more open minded and not miserable people who spend 24/7 complaining about things on the internet (Just look at the furious responses to the rumors of Zac Efron and Ryan Gossling being considered for Episode VII).

Since it is west of the Mississippi, "Incredible Hulk-like anger and hate" is allowed in the parks. It is not allowed in WDW.

So because Cameron has a sense of futuristic ideas, Avatar fits in Tomorrowland? I'm not sure I quite understand.

Cars Land went in California Adventure, a park that is now loved by some, but still follows in Disneyland's shadow. Disneyland is deemed "holy ground" by most fans. Again, Avatar in Disneyland, AKA holy ground, Walt's Park, precious land, whatever, is not the equivalent to Cars Land in California Adventure. I can't seem to get you to understand that, but I shouldn't expect you to.

Avatar fits thematically into Tomorrowland as well as Star Wars does. And better than Monsters Inc (is Laugh Floor really coming there?) fits. Not that I'm saying that Avatar is coming to DLR, but seems to me that it's no more a stretch than other things they've done.

Couldn't have said it better myself. It for sure as hell makes way more sense in Tomorrowland than Finding Nemo, Toy Story, Lilo & Stitch, Autopia, Skyway, and even my beloved America Sings did. I mean is this guy seriously trying to make a case that Disney would say all of that is thematically appropriate for Tomorrowland but Avatar isn't? LOL

I disagree, I don't think it fits at all. Monsters doesn't fit, either.

Well Disney doesn't care if you agree or not. True Fact: Toy Story, Finding Nemo, and Autopia/Indy Speedway make no sense in TL either.

Maybe because your argument makes no sense.

First of all, I'm a female. Second of all, when did I say everything in Tomorrowland thematically fits and the land is perfect as is? I'd love to know so if you could point that out, that would be great. Third of all, Lilo and Stitch aren't present in DL's Tomorrowland.

My apologies Ms

Second of all, your whole argument is about how Avatar doesn't make "a lick of sense" in Tomorrow land which has never stopped Disney before. Avatar is far more thematically appropriate than any of those pixar attractions that currently reside their and even some of the older attractions.

Whether Avatar is more thematically appropriate than Nemo or Buzz or whoever, it still isn't the right fit for Tomorrowland.

Tomorrowland has become an extension of Fantasyland with a sci-fi theme. Space aliens? Fish that talk? Monovision Billy Crystal characters? Shove 'em in. Based on that logic, Avatar would not be out of place. It would be out of place for what we know Tomorrowland to be, but not what it has become.

It really shows an astonishing lack of faith in their own product that everything must be shoehorned character tie-in.
