Disney Insider hints at D23 Expo "sneak peaks"

There was HUGE backlash about Cars and Pixar in general prior to the DCA announcement. Only after the scale model was shown and assurance that they weren't going to be cheap about it did people slowly start settling down.

Clonning Avatar Land makes sense and like I said there is a proposal at imagineering to remove the subs/innoventions/autopia and replace that area with the whole Avatar complex coming to DAK complete with the E and C tickets and even have the Disneyland Railroad enter the show building at one point like on Splash Mountain.
What? This makes no sense... After they just poured like $300 million into the subs. And the RR does not fit themetically at all with Avatar!

Tomorrowland has become an extension of Fantasyland with a sci-fi theme. Space aliens? Fish that talk? Monovision Billy Crystal characters? Shove 'em in. Based on that logic, Avatar would not be out of place. It would be out of place for what we know Tomorrowland to be, but not what it has become.

It really shows an astonishing lack of faith in their own product that everything must be shoehorned character tie-in.

Spot on. Thank you.

Uh if your talking about the Nemo Subs that opened 6 years ago and they did not spend anywhere close to $300 mil. Disney is not happy with the attendance for that ride since people see it once and that's enough. It is not a sacred cow unlike Space Mountain and Star Tours.

My understanding is that the RR would get its own Pandora scenery that it would roam past like it does through Splash Mountain, grand canyon, and Primeveal Diorama.

The plans for Tomorrowland should be announced within the next few months they are pretty grand and of course there are different proposals but I have heard it's an almost complete tear down of existing facilities and there will be new attractions like the Speeder bikes replacing Rocket Rods, A new spinner where the rocket jets used to be, and the Autopia and Innoventions buildings are going bye bye as well.

All I was saying about the RR is that I can't imagine 19th century RR tracks and train running through Pandora. I get the idea, but it's out of place, unless they bring back the peoplemover and use that to go through it...

Wow, the TL project sounds like it will cost at least $500 million. That project, the possible DHS project, the EC projects... They're asking for a lot at once... Possibly lowering the chances of getting the Board to approve everything... I hope they don't mess this up by asking for too much at a time... Fingers crossed... Lassetter better know what he's doing and be convincing...

Alot of it is getting cloned between the parks so that will help like how Midway Mania and The Little Mermaid ride from the DCA rennovation got cloned for DHS and MK and Cars land is going to get cloned too.

The only EC Projects is a new film for Soarin' and the rumored Imagination redo. I don't think anything major is coming to Epcot in the next 10 years unless a great sponsorship deal comes up.

Update – /Film spoke with Imagineering who made it very clear that they will not be announcing any new Star Wars attractions at the D23 Expo and any “clues” or “teases” they are hinting will merely be the fact that they are indeed working on something, leaving it at that.

I really hope the Avatar area can capture the feel and environment of a military assault with guns and robots on aliens.

This is the experience that makes sense in a park dedicated to animals.
It's not focusing (no reports of it) on the military and Avatar movie storyline.

Rather playing off of the immersive world, conservation theme, and creatures of the film.

One's opinion on the Avatar at Animal Kingdom subject matter should look at the following

Would I like an original park e-ticket and boat ride over an Avatar e-ticket and boat ride?

Heck yeah.

Would I like no progress whatsoever over an Avatar e-ticket and boat ride?
No way

If you replied similarly on the second question, then you're probably part of the people not dreading Avatar.

That is an awful criteria. Simply doing something is not necessarily progress.
