Disney Hollywood studios worth $94 a day?

I don't think it is work the almost $100 per day. My son doesn't do thrill rides. What does that leave us. Shopping, Star Tours, Backlot (Last day it was open), and a couple of stage shows. He doesn't like the squeeling of LMA, doesn't like Toy Story Mania, No TOT or Rollercoaster. We were there for 2 hours and left.
Umm, maybe go to Magic Kindom instead?? I mean if you're only doing ONE park, might as well do the best and most complete one with the most to offer.

We always purchase either MYWT for 10 days with Park Hopper or APs so we never considered if the park is actually worth the entry for a one-day-ticket. If we break it down to one day we pay less than 35 bucks per day and thats still less than 28 € for the 10 day MYWT. It's definitely worth that money and it has even won IMHO with getting rid of the abominable American Idol geek show and the incredibly boring "Closed Studios Backlot Tour".

DHS is ranked in the top 10 theme parks in the world by attendance, but it most definitely would not make the top 10 if park hoppers and annual passes didn't exist.

In my opinion, this is one of the major reasons for the incredible overcrowding of the MK in the last few years. Along with the international marketing that is bringing in record number of tourists, none of the other three parks have the drawing power to get people away from the MK. I would guess that for most return visitors the AK, DHS and Epcot have become half day or maybe three quarter day parks. That puts people with parkhopper tickets in the MK at sometime each day adding to the crowd.

People will gravitate to the MK no matter what, but if TDO does not give families a reason to take their kids to one of the other parks there will no chance at reducing the lines for attractions or food.

I can't see how epcot is a half day park. We can't see it all in two days. Animal Kingdom takes up a day if you like the environment & the animals. If you only do rides then no it wouldn't but rides only were not the intention of that park to me.
Hollywood Studios is definitely a half day. I lovvve Star Tours 2.0...it's my favorite ride in all of Disney & we all love Toy Story Midway Mania. Hubby & son love tower & the go on rrc. We all go on movie ride. We hate the food there, it's terrible in our opinion.... so we make reservations at downtown disney or a resort that night. We like one man's dream but been there done that. Hate lights motor action. Indiana Jones is ok as is beauty & the beast but been there boring after twice.

Actually, I don't feel 3 of the 4 parks are worth this price. AK will be once they finish Avatar, Epcot I really enjoy but I also spend money there more on restaurants and merchandise, pay almost $100 just to pay more. MK is the only park worth the price of entrance in my opinion and that is why I refuse to go back until they finish some large projects at each of the 3 parks. Can't wait for Disneyland next October, both of those parks are worth their price of admission.
Be forewarned that Disneyland does do one thing that can make your trip much less magical than it should be... they have a tendancy to do refurbs on a whim... You won't get the 6 months of advance notice that you get at WDW you may find that the ride you wanted was taken down with as little as 1 weeks warning. Probably not a big deal for locals but if you are planning a trip from out of state it can be a real pain. The upside of your october trip is that you can pretty much depend on Space Mountain and Haunted Mansion being open (though with their Halloween overlay on them) but all bets are off for everything else. Even rides that may have just had a refurb can be closed again a month or two after the first closing.

So do yourself a favor and don't tell your kids about any of the rides because there is a chance they will be down when you go... We've made that mistake ourselves and it create unnecessary disappointment... we also found out the hard way that just because a ride was down in the past few months and is up again that it is no assurance it wont get yanked offline again (happened with Indy)

There is absolutely NO WAY that this park is worth almost $100 dollars a day now.
It really wasn't even worth it before they took away Backlot and American Idol.

I really feel bad for families that have never been before, (not having park hopper) expecting this park to be a full day experience. What a ripoff!

Not to mention, this park now only has 5 rides....5!!!!! (Two of which are rollercoasters which cuts out small children and more mellow riders)

Disney REALLY needs to adjust pricing (which I know darn well they never will) until they can build this park back up into what is rightfully deserves to be!

You know the parks aren't all designed to be amusement ride parks. Hollywood Studio is one of those types of parks. You don't get lots of rides instead you also have some shows so you have to factor those into your equation as well. Beauty and the Beast, Indiana Jones are just two of the shows that some folk enjoy that wouldn't give a hoot about riding rides. It really comes down to what the visitor wants.

Thank you. I'm also hoping though that since they will be celebrating their 60th anniversary most things will be already refurbished and open. Not letting he kids know is not going to be a big deal. We are just going to pick them up from school and head to the train station without telling them ahead of time that we are going.

I hope your right... but my experience with DL is that they tend to try and have as much open as possible in the peak seasons and then do any maintenance that is required after the peak... October is one of those times they are doing that maintenance that they put off in the summer... On and depending on when you are going, if you want to do the Halloween party get your tickets early if your trip is scheduled for the later part of the month. The closer you get to Halloween the more likely the ticket are going to actually sell out.

I love love love EPCOT but it's a one day park for me these days, or I can spend half a day in FW and then hop somewhere else.

DHS would so easily be a half day park every time if it wasn't for the eradic show schedule. So if you want to see/do everything, you kind of have to be there all day.

Currently, I'd agree that DHS is not a full day park unless you're visiting for the first time and plan to see all of the shows and attractions. But for frequent visitors, after seeing the shows once or twice you really go to ride TOT, RnRC, maybe TMM (FP+ or if you're lucky and catch a short wait), maybe GMR and maybe ST. When I go it's usually hit TOT, and RnRC and then park hop.

Now being the complete Disney Freak that I am, took a screen shot from MDE app, opened the sketchbook app on my phone, and really thought about what I'd like to see within the next few years.

First off now that the Backlot Tour is gone, we have quite a bit of land adjacent to Pixar Place. This would be my pick for a Pixar Place Expansion hopefully including the rumored Monsters INC door coaster (worst case copy of DCA attraction). Now my wishful thinking says move SGE here and bring back Alien Encounter ;) and do away with MILF entirely now that we have a proper MI attraction. It'd also be nice to see Pizza Planet relocated here.

Secondly, Star Wars Land. Expand into the former site of Indy. Retheme Backlot Express to something Star Wars possibly the cantina on Tatooine. Retheme Star Tours entrance area. Star Wars speeder bike coaster where Indy once stood.

Third, move the earful tower back into the sight line of the park, I like behind Animation Courtyard personally. Although the Sunset Blvd sight line could be at risk here on second though. Maybe it's the distant Disney Studio as seen from there? As for BAH, either removed entirely or moved to Fantasmic as suggested in the New Park Maps thread. I kinda like that idea. This also restores the Hollywood Blvd view.

Lastly, leave the area behind TMM open for future expansion. Entry between TMM and the Legend of Jack Sparrow. Actually get rid of that too. ;)

And now I need to go get a life, seriously .

No park is worth $94 a day. Disney has made it clear that they want to have guests there more than a day. They make far more money from guests staying longer.

I had a talk with my wife about this the other day. DHS and AK are under so much construction with closures that I hate to waste the gas to drive 100 miles each way to go to either one (we don't live very far). That's not to mention Downtown Disney. Then you have EPCOT appearing to be gearing up for a hefty series of refurbs, and it looks like the next 18 months do not offer a very immersive park experience. Unless, of course, off-limits construction areas are a thing you love, then by all means, have a ball.

DHS is, I still believe, a full day park for the first-time visitor, but only for the first-timer. There are a bunch of shows and other things we tend to forget about or bypass when we visit fairly regularly (2-3 times per year). For those of us blessed to be able to go more often, we're spoiled.

Basically, we're going to save our money and hold off on renewing APs and apply that capital towards a Disneyland trip next year, instead. Once WDW gets near completion again, then we will renew the passes.

Okay first of all, I love your enthusiasm!

One issue: there's a road almost directly behind TSMM.

They really built themselves into a corner with the location of DHS, the only place they can easily expand into is further into the back of the park. And I would imagine they would do just that in the future.

I normally go to disney for a week but spend a day or 2 at universal. And honestly I normally do HS and AK each in a 1/2 day then park hop to Epcot or downtown disney or something. I can easily do multiple days in MK and epcot. But IMO, HS and AK aren't full days worth of attractions. Unless your going during Christmas. Bc I love HS during Christmas.

Add two coasters ? No thanx if they are going to add 15 attractions ok but if they are adding 2-5 no. They already have a coaster & tot....That park needs some other stuff. I don't want it become 6flags. I go to Disney because it's not just all about coasters. If it ever became that I'd never go again :( I hope they have a good plan.

i believe your idea hinges on the relocation of some roadways yes?
