News Disney hints at more changes to come at Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom

I would argue that they are reactionary and desperate at the moment, ha. The problem is, Disney's reactions are inexplicably more abstract than concrete.
I didn't say they weren't behind the scenes. I honestly don't know. It's just that it would be senseless for them to broadcast it in the way some folks continuously insist they need to. Announcements will proceed as scheduled.
Instead they should have been proactive and had things announced that were coming 2025 and beyond. Instead we get a bunch of blue sky ideas that most likely will not happen.
Ideally, yes. But that should just be how they run the parks regularly and shouldn't have anything to do with "countering" Epic Universe.

In the Parks
No
It did shock me that USO and IOA closed like at 6 and 7 respectively when I was there (maybe one was open until 8). I wonder with the new park if we see them extend hours to match Disney so people get more “value” out of their day.

If Disney wants to keep fans in the World, they are going to need to do some quick hits like a new night parade, update entertainment across the resort, and announce new builds on an expedited schedule.

I COULD see people saying “well a bunch of new stuff is opening at WDW in 2026 so maybe we skip Orlando next year and do 3 days at each” and maybe that’s what they’re hoping? Either way that’s still Disney losing market share and not protecting it, but they’re going to be taking a direct hit in 24 and 25 for sure (I mean, we’ve already heard 24 bookings are soft).

I can't see extended hours once Epic opens, staffing levels are still low and they will need thousands more so having enough to cover more hours will take time.

To clarify, by things to do at night I meant dinner and drinks. Many more options at WDW Resort than Universal. I'm speaking from experience in our situation. And parks close earlier at Universal.

We don't do late night bars on a Disney trip. We do other types of vacations when that's what we are looking for.

It's obvious that Disney has lots of ideas in the works. They keep sharing them, but they refuse to open that wallet and put their money where their mouth is.
When they do approve something they spread those costs over a dozen quarters or so.
I hear people talking about how Disney should be scared or wake up about what universal is doing, and I couldn't agree more, however I also think Disney could go gangbusters if they wanted to.
I really think it's pure stupidity to operate the parks the way they do.
Repeat visitors expect new experiences and dislike losing favorites to reworked classic attractions.
Repeat visitors also invest in the dvc club.

Each park should average at least 1 e ticket every 5 years or a combination of lesser graded attractions.

Parks with fewer attractions should be plussed until there are at least 15 to 20 attractions in each park.

I can easily spend 2 days each in epcot and mk but the other 2 are 9 to 5 days. Hs might be a little better now since my last trip but I doubt they can fill 9 to 7 for my family.

For many DHS and DAK are half-day parks. Until they get their attraction count up they'll remain that way.

What can Disney really get open in 2026 even if you are talking late 2026 that is going to wow an audience and say i want to check this out? Not counting retheme of Splash of course & even that are people really going to be drawn to visit this?

One point in Disney's favor is Universal consistency closes its theme parks at 6:00 or 7:00pm... something you don't see Disney doing anywhere near as often.
Universal Studios is working on a new nightime lagoon show so that park will probably open later again in the Summer months.

That is the question... When a restaurant refurbishment or a concession booth take 3 years for them to complete, I would say there will be nothing new that would tick attendance by 2026...
A new nighttime parade would be great, but it would have to be an absolute spectacular to drive attendance...
no real concrete plans that we know of coming up... I am sure they are thinking they will wait a couple years for EPIC Universe to open and get rolling.....and then see if it has any effect on their bottom line....

I dont think Disney wants more attendance, it's almost like they purposely want less people to come, probably so they dont have to pay more cast....sounds like current management.
But they have lots of hotel rooms to staff and fill, empty rooms don't generate cash flow or merch bev sales which is where the money is

Ive said this before. I truly think they hope they will get sloppy seconds from people heading to Uni once this park opens and those people will be the highest paying ones as well. Shorter stays spending more money to get everything in

Crazy isn't it.

Could probably expand the parks more, which while would cost more in labour would probably bring in FAR more revenue in visiting guests, merch and food.

I just don't get why they don't understand that you have to spend money to make MORE money. you can't just keep everything the same and continue to squeeze $1 here and there forevermore.

Whats crazy is this. They can expand parks and people will still pay up for Genie. Any new ride they can still charge an ILL fee people will pay. These rides can pay for themselves over time. Add in a couple cool dark/family rides and its a no brainer.
