Disney Grad Nites to End

I guess it makes sense since tourists are definitely going to bring in a lot more money than the local grads will. I would also be willing to bet that part of this decision is based on how the attitudes and behaviors of high school students has changed a bit as this event has progressed.

Sounds like WDW may have come out a little ahead of DL for a change with this decision.....

It closes but unlike a hard ticketed event like MNSSHP, where guests can linger in shops and the like, the park is completely cleared.

Thanks..that is what i thought but was not 100% sure!!

I could see Disney not wanting to do it any more. I am sure the grads dont spend a lot of money..except on food which causes more trash.....and so on!!!

I have no doubt that the attitudes and behavior of teenagers has changed over the years. I remember going, and it was a great event. But we were required to wear slacks and a tie then. I am sure that tradition has been done away with as well.

Grad Night is NOT just for locals - I went to school in NJ and we attended Grad Night.

I would think that Disneyland would have more local schools attending.

Getting to go to grad nite at Hollywood studios was awesome. I personally don't think they should take it a way from seniors. It's almost a right of passage.

No it's the same thing. From a CM perspective, this is wonderful news. Grad Night kids are pretty tough to deal with.

While I thought that this was a cool idea and wished I could have gone when I graduated from HS, but I figured that this was a nightmare for the MK cast members. I'm sure that no one really looked forward to working that day(s).

I never went but I do remember when Grad Night was a dress-up event. I'm a little surprised they're doing away with it. I can understand, tho.

I believe you because it was for me as well but, in talking to my about to graduate daughter, she and her friends could care less.(?) There is no excitement about staying out all night or taking over the park?

At WDW, it's all about the money. Traditions or not, TDO will shut down or close anything if they think they can more money a different way.

It was for me and my school in S. Florida.

I attended both Jr. Grad night when I wasn in 8th grade, and then Grad night as a Senior.

Some very fond memories there and I still have the pictures of me and all my friends, dressed up (Slacks and Ties for the boys) and heading out for a great night.

I ACTUALLY used a clip on tie with a short sleve dress shirt. Mr. Fashion I was not.

Band line up that I can recall for my Grad night in 1989.

I find it upsetting news and know that my son is going to be very disappointed... My son, along with his buddy since diapers, had asked us Mom's to plan their Senior Class Trip just for Grad Nites 2013... Sure, we could consider taking the class over to DLR, but it will likely be far more than many can afford as the airfare is usually higher to go from the midwest to Cali... *sigh*

I was there the same year. We also had Samantha Fox, Will to Power, Midnight Star, Pasanda's and Surface. I do not remember Lita Ford though and she was one that I would have remembered.
