Right. I actually had that in my mind, but forget it while I was typing.

The big question I have is whether TSPL is happening and, if so, what is the timeframe. If they do build it, they absolutely should have it up and running in the first half of 2016, but who knows with Disney's work rate.

I think ideally Wall Street would love it if Disney built new spectacular Star Wars attractions with zero capital and zero operating expense, which gives me an idea... How about putting WDW guests to work and diguise it as an attraction?! After waiting on a very long line, guests would be given a hard hat to wear and would be escorted to the Star Wars "sneak preview" attraction and construction site. Once at the site, a project manager would hand you a tool and brief you on how to operate it. You would then be given instructions on what they wanted you to do with that tool during an interactive 3-hour "preview" session. They'll even play loud Star Wars music and have some Star Wars related props to motivate slaves volunteers free labor guests who "participate". What an ingenious way to built and not worry about labor expenses!!!!!

A previous poster had stated that you cant build a new attraction for each Disney movie. That's true, M&Gs are easy to do. But SW is such a major franchise, that even if they weren't doing 7-9, you would still have a big enough fan base to have a land or themed area or whatever.

Well, hopefully there will be something up and running when Ep. 8 comes out. I'm okay with the meet and greets if they are done the right way. Another crowd control

Lassater had gone to Iger in the beginning and told him he wanted a new ride for each new Pixar movie as it was released. He was immediately shot down.

In hindsight, do we really need a Brave ride?

So, obviously it needs to be on movie to movie basis. But not having rides for movies like Wreck-It Ralph, Tron (even though one's now going to Shanghai), Big Hero 6, etc. is absolutely ludicrous.

The lines and demand to meet Baymax should tell them something.

^ While I'd love for Disney to do rides like Wreck it Ralph, Tron or Big Hero 6- the last time that they tried to open a ride to coincide with a new movie concept was when we almost got Atlantis and ended up with a Bug's Life. :p

Big Hero 6 or Wall-E should be an easy drop-in replacement for Captain EO, I'm still confused why it hasn't happened. Then again, EPCOT's theater will be the only remaining one in a couple of years now so that's not going to happen now.

I don't think Wreck-It Ralph, Tron or Big Hero 6 need rides. I don't think they will be any better remembered than Ratatouille, Wall-E or Up 10 years from now. Good movies (except for Tron), but not essential for park representation.

What do you mean by that?

I obviously completely disagree.

Thanks for brining those to my attention though. Ratatouille has a very popular ride in France (although I agree, it wouldn't be my first choice) and IMO, Wall-e absolutely should have a ride as well. Wall-e merch still sells amazingly well for a property that old (which completely goes against our argument).

I also disagree about the longevity of Wreck-It and BH6. Both will most likely be ongoing franchises that have years of legs left on them. I imagine BH6 especially will actually grow in popularity as the years go by.

I think a wait and see attitude for some movies is probably a good thing, because, there are some movies/characters that are just hard to predict how the public will embrace, especially long-term, just look at Stitch as an example. Of course, part of the problem with Stitch was that they over-did it for him, which I fear they're doing with Anna & Elsa as well, but we'll see. But, that's not what we're talking about here. We're talking about Star Wars, a franchise that has endured for more than 30 years, spawned many toys, books, games, TV shows, etc. and has an estimated net worth of almost $30 billion! For Iger to say "We've been overwhelmed with interest" just shows that he didn't understand the scope of what he got when they acquired LucasFilm.

As for attractions, and the movies you mentioned, I think it would make sense to have something for Wreck-It-Ralph, and perhaps Tron, if not for just the visuals, but I think it's still too soon for Big Hero 6. Baymax is popular at the moment because he's still new or fresh, so it's kind early for that franchise. But, if you just compare the boxoffice revenue for these films and put them up against Frozen, they don't really stack up. Worldwide estimates show BH6 made $652 million and Wreck-It-Ralph $471 million vs. Frozen's $1.2 billion! Don't get me wrong, I would love to see some of these other movies get more in park attention than a meet-and-greet, but like @ford91exploder referenced, it's about the MONEY!

In lieu of creating attractions for every movie though, I don't understand why they don't at least create more elaborate meet-and-greets for the most recent films. Why not pour a little more investment in every animated film that's released and re-create a set or two from these movies where guests could come and feel like they were in the movie? Maybe a mini attraction that gives a taste of the movie or re-creates a scene. Make it something worth promoting, where people would actually want to come and see it. I'm not talking about a full blown build like the Tangled bathrooms, but a soundstage at the Studios with a little more effort put into it than cardboard cutout backdrops, which just look and feel cheap, like they did the least they could to have "something" representing the movie. They could do it at both DLR and WDW, or alternate between the resorts for each film.

This whole argument of movie vs. ride concept is hollow when you try to explain Splash Mountain or Big Thunder Mountain. One is based on a movie that Disney hasn't released in two generations. Big Thunder simply has a fictional backstory. Park representation is purely concept and entertainment driven. If it's a Disney movie, that's just icing on the cake!
