Question or statement? That's not what the handicapped folks getting in NYC families to the front of the line several years ago.
If you know the disability access drama that happened approx 8-10 years ago you would know.Question or statement?
He's referring to the old version of DAS...when families would hire people who used wheelchairs as a tour guide to get them front-of-line access. (But you probably know this.)Question or statement?
I know. But your post didn’t make much sense. If you know the disability access drama that happened approx 8-10 years ago you would know.
Nope. They're a perk, for sure, but to try to count them as actually being part of compensation really isn't fair when a person is struggling to meet living expenses. Health insurance (which in some areas would have to be purchased anyways) is different and can more fairly be counted as part of compensation.I know. But your post didn’t make much sense.
F&F comps or DAS doesn’t pay the rent. I know enough cast working all the hours they can and struggling to hold onto a place to live.
Health insurance is surely a big chunk of a family's budget especially if one has to use the benefits due to illness, medical operations etc. I've always wondered residents of Canada ( even cast who work at the Disney stores in Canada? ) who pay more in taxes than we do but are all covered by the state due to socialized health care.Nope. Yup. They just go and get treated and never see a bill (at least that's my understanding).Health insurance is surely a big chunk of a family's budget especially if one has to use the benefits due to illness, medical operations etc. I've always wondered residents of Canada ( even cast who work at the Disney stores in Canada? ) who pay more in taxes than we do but are all covered by the state due to socialized health care.
That's their own fault then. Sorry but most CMs that can't pay rent are in that position because they refuse to adjust their lifestyle to the wage they make. When I was a CM I made $11 an hour and I made it work because I cut back on extravagant purchases, cooked at home, and made every effort to penny pinch. It can be done but most people are too lazy to bother. If you have a family to take care of, find a job that pays better; hospitality isn't the only industry in Central Florida.Passes don’t pay the rent.
The discussion was around the value of passes being counted as part of compensation. They are a perk, for sure, but where they are a discretionary purchase, I wouldn't count their value as being part of "job compensation" when evaluating one package over another, but health insurance and other "must-haves" for living life I would absolutely count in the total. That's their own fault then. Free passes are not necessary. Im on board with Disney cutting back on the number of free days or doing away with this perk entirely if workers want higher wages; you can't have bothThe discussion was around the value of passes being counted as part of compensation. I would agree that park passes would not count as terms of compensation for cast but for improved mental health what better way to enjoy your day off than being at MK!The discussion was around the value of passes being counted as part of compensation. More passes to cast and chances are one could buy that overpriced reheated $12 turkey leg or other food drink and gift shop items.Free passes are not necessary. They can also be a nice carrot...like say when you're having a hard time attracting quality employees and your overall compensation package is in line with other employers in the area...throwing in some "icing on the cake" that doesn't really cost the company anything can be the deciding factor for people looking for work.Free passes are not necessary. If more cast experience their free park visits more and more they become more familiar with the Disney product. Some guests like me could use their tips and tricks to enjoy our vacation better when talking with them. They can also be a nice carrot...like say when you're having a hard time attracting quality employees and your overall compensation package is in line with other employers in the area...throwing in some "icing on the cake" that doesn't really cost the company anything can be the deciding factor for people looking for work.
I'll conceded that having the ability to know the product is one plus of having free admission. I can't tell you how disgusted it made me as a CM working with people who knew nothing about the parks. It was something I wish could have been punished. If more cast experience their free park visits more and more they become more familiar with the Disney product. 2. Here’s a story about a pizza chain that is somehow able to pay its employees $16/hr, stay in business, and not charge $50 for a pizza. Crazy!
This pizza chain owner who pays $16 an hour says there's no labor shortage, just a shortage of businesses willing to pay a decent wage
Michael Lastoria, CEO of &pizza, told Insider he hasn't struggled to staff his 51 restaurants because he pays workers $16 an hour on average.www.businessinsider.com
How dare you talk about people’s circumstances you know nothing about. That's their own fault then.
I was watching an episode of Graham Norton the other day...Will Smith and several other stars were on. Naomie Harris told a story about how she asked Will where he got the energy to interact with all the fans in between nearly every shot while on set. His response was "Every person you meet is going through something, and we have the opportunity to add a little bit of happiness and light into someone's day, so why not do it."How dare you talk about people’s circumstances you know nothing about.
Being an ex CM means squat.
Absolutely. Such a... right... frame of mind.I was watching an episode of Graham Norton the other day...Will Smith and several other stars were on. Words we could all stand to keep in mind as we go through life on this big rock.
