AFAIK they were not financial cuts. If you remember, there was an insane shortage of fireworks/pyro in 2021. Also, many of the launchers were modified in preparation for DE and were no longer compatible with HEA; so those sequences were cut.
Even before the pandemic, there would be sometimes shortages of certain fireworks. And when transitioning from one show to another, Disney likes to use up the previous stock before introducing the new stock. It took a few months for HEA to start using all the fireworks that were planned for it as it went through old stock.

Ha funny enough, some of the initial shells used in HEA during its debut in May 2017 were leftover shells from Star Wars: A Galactic Spectacular at DHS and not even the ones that were designed for the show.

Wow! Who Knew!!!! Guess it doesn't matter where the shells come from!

As far as Main Street.....Spring 2023 is not enough time to put HEA on Main Street's Buildings???? Or is TDO planning an earlier date here?????

Should be enough time, especially if they give the contract to Mousetrappe (which I presume they would). But I really do think it's a decision they have made or are making imminently.

Would the launchers would need to be modified again for a full 2017 HEA??
I don't believe they will return to full 2017 HEA if the show returns, it will appear more like Disneyland in Anaheim when old firework shows return. Here's the story behind it at Disneyland.
When Disneyland Forever return in 2019 at earliest amid debut of Mickey's Mix Magic and after the castle refurbishment, they cut most of castle pyro amount just for the Jungle Book segment, as well as many castle pyro cut at Mary Poppins segment, Winnie the Pooh, and finale part of the show while modify some of the original 2015 pyro. The similar situation also goes for Halloween Screams and Believe In Holiday Magic. Even for this year 4th of July Celebrate America fireworks, they no longer showing crossette castle pyro effect at the end of "Celebrate the Freedom and Independence" segment.

Disneyland recently just testing and showing how older fireworks show be looked but without any castle pyro just like Mix Magic, starting with Halloween Screams on October 17 last year, and DLF for three times this month (July 3, 5, and 23). It was apparently same situation at MK when HEA was shown without any castle pyro.

If HEA returns, they seriously need to restore the original castle/FL pyro. What they did post-closure was a travesty.

Cutting the comets in the finale from 5 to 3? Then removing the bright white ones before the last "Happily Ever Afterrrr".

Also, utilize the infrastructure DE brought to the table. Two new launch sites, additional spotlights on the light towers spread throughout the Hub, etc.

And add Main St Projections

...that cover all of Main St. and aren't cringey flash animations.

But what do I know, being all critical of DE, I'm just a Disney apologist.

Well, hopefully this was just their first attempt

I still like the idea and putting the guest sort of in the middle of projections, but yeah, the DE ones aren't great

This is really an unfortunate situation because I think 2 things are really hurting DE: 1. that it came after HEA and 2. that it was rushed.

The fact that it came after HEA (after over a year of not having HEA and fans missing it so much), really had people going into it with a negative mindset. I don't think there is any turning that around though.

Yup. I've always been under the impression that if Enchantment came after Wishes and wasn't a 50th anniversary show, it would be much more liked by both the public and disney fans alike.

Maybe, not sure. Wishes is far and away so much better than Enchantment. The show simply doesn't pass the test to be the main staple at the Magic Kingdom.

At least the technology with projections and stuff would have been a step forward from Wishes .... Doesn't mean it would be viewed as better but at least could see it as, technically, advancing things

But it didn't really do that vs HEA

Forgive if I'm not reading this correctly, but why return HEA if it would face Pyro Cuts??? Most notably, Castle/Fantasyland Pyro? That might be worse than keeping Enchantment to some people!!!! I would have to see it before my opinion.
