Disney DOLLARS still valid ?

Since I'm a Florida resident I usually request cash/check/etc. (for b-days & holidays) and such so I can renew my Annual Pass.

But are you still able to buy Disney Dollars at the Disney Stores and use them at WDW? I thought I read something about not being able to since the stores were sold.

Or am I just crazy

Is there a difference between DDs sold at Disney Stores and the parks? The only difference in appearance I'm aware of is the year the "money" was made. Even if there is a diff, I can't imagine they could still sell the money if it couldn't be used like other Disney Dollars. (Doesn't the Disney Store, as run by Children's Place, still have liscensing agremments with WDCo.?)

My grandparents bought some and sent them to my kids with Valentine's Day cards, so I would assume you can still get them there and they are still valid. They're the same ones people have gotten the last few months with Chicken Little on them.

Tecnically they aren't selling them or you buying them... your converting to the local curency.. remember.. your on disney property now... (thought they do accept any curensy just in case..)

My son's birthday is coming up in March. Since we're planning a trip, (we've) he's requested Disney Dollars from family members who usually mail checks for presents.

I called the local Disney store and was told that they would continue selling them even though they were sold and had no plans to stop.

Yes as of the last time I checked Disney Dollars were still good as currency at WDW, however Disney Store gift cards are not good in WDW even at World of Disney!!! Belle

Disney Store gift cards have never been accepted at WDW. The gift cards are only good at The Disney Store, Disney Outlet Stores and Disneydirect.com.

I bought my parents Disney Dollars for Christmas and they spent them in Disney in January.

I was just at my store a few days ago, and we still are selling Disney Dollars and will continue to do so, even though we only have $5's in right now.

Ponder this: You can still buy tickets for WDW at the store right? If that is true, why wouldn't you be able to buy legit DD in the stores?

The DD that are sold at the store at 100% REAL DD. They are sent to us, however, right now, (from what they told the stores) they are redesigning the DD so until they are completed, we will only receive what the warehouses may have left. Whether it's an easy way to stop selling DD at the store or not, I'm not sure. Personally, I think they would be foolish to stop selling DD at the stores because it's better to give a kid $20 in DD than a $20 bill that can be used anywhere! Just my opinion though!

In anticipation of a trip in a few weeks, my GF and I have each been picking up 20 Disney Dollars a week at our local mall's Disney Store, since mid-January of the year. But we've only been able to pick them up in $5 "bills." From what I was told, they're redesigning new Disney dollars but not printing up any more Disney dollars with the old design in the interim. So Disney stores have to make do with the stock they have (which is why I could only get them in $5 increments at my local mall-that's all they had left), and once they're gone they can't get any more until the new designs are printed. That is, unless they can sweet talk another Disney store out of some of their stock. In fact, my store ran out 2 weeks ago. But we managed to get $240 in DD, not too shabby.

My best friend went to our local Disney Store yesterday to get Disney Dollars for my son's birthday present. They said that they are on-hold pending new 50th Anniversary DD.

Of course, this might be just our local store . . . other stores may still have others in stock.
