Disney considering VIP and other add-on options to their tickets....

This was my biggest complaint about DCA's Aladdin show. The "front orchestra" section was reserved for guests who purchased vacations through a travel agent. It discriminates against locals who don't need travel agents for obvious reasons, and it discriminates against people who book their own travel.

Charging for the FP DOES adversely affect guests who choose not to pay. And it does give the impression that in order to have a fun day, you need to buy the pass. I certainly felt that way at Universal. While I was good without it at IOA, when I went to Universal Studios I felt that the only way to actually enjoy my day was to buy the express pass.

Oh, believe me I agree with you COMPLETELY! :) I think the FP system, as it is NOW, is the most fair and democratic system possible and totally beats all the other parks that charge. I didn't mean to imply I would be in favor of allowing the option of buying extra or unlimited FPs that has been discussed here.

I was just saying I've held my tongue about that idea (focusing instead on the Holiday issue), assuming they would still offer "regular" FP free to everyone else the way it is now (although as others have pointed out, this might cause the non-paying, regular FP users to have access to fewer FPs.)

So to sum up, while I wouldn't be overjoyed if they started doing a "pay" option to get unlimited FPs (especially if it cut into the amount non-paying guests could get), I find that to be the "lesser of two evils" if the other option is "NO ONE can use FP AT ALL (including APs) unless they pay for it!"

In that second scenario, I WOULD be writing letters expressing my concerns on the matter!

The best things in life are free.....but you can give them to the birds & bees, I want MONEY.....That's what I want, that's want I waaaaaaaan't, that's what I want.:ROFLOL::ROFLOL:

Can you imagine if the Tour Groups will be able to purchase VIP Fast passes at unlimited use? No regular guest would be able to ride any rides, the people with VIP FP will be taking up the rides
And what makes you think that said guest wouldn't use his or her VIP fp to get unlimited FP for each one of his family members? Idk, It just sounds messy to me. But who knows, maybe it'll work?

The half day ticket sounds similar to a thought I just had the other day. My thought was that, since Animal Kingdom, generally takes only have a day or so, vs a whole day for the Magic Kingdom, then, rather than having one ticket ticket that can be used at any park, make a specific ticket for admission to Animal Kingdom (and maybe DHS) and another "level" of ticket for Epcot and MK. I'm just not sure how feaseable it would be for a multiday ticket, since we can't always predict how many admissions we will make to each park on a 7-10 day trip. However, for someone wanting to visit one day at a park, it may make more sense to charge a smaller amount for the day visitor at AK, than for the day visitor at MK.

So this "half day ticket" idea is similar to the idea I just described, but perhaps a better version of it, since one person may enjoy AK so much that they stay for 10 hours, whereas someone else at the MK may only want to stay until 3. So, rather than charge per park, charge per amount of time there.

However, after having said all that, I'm not sure it's a good idea. How are they going to enforce your ticket "expiring" at 3 PM? Is it going to have an alarm that goes off that clues in a CM to escort you out promptly at 3 PM?

My other problem with this whole idea is that it sounds like another way to jack up ticket prices. How are they going to work this change? For example for a 7 day parkhopper, are they going to leave the price the same and just lower the price for those who want the "until 3 PM" option, or the "no rides" option? Or are they going to make the current price the "base" price and raise it for those of us who want what that ticket currently offers (rides, being there past 3 PM, etc)? To make it more clear what I am asking, let's say that I am paying 300 dollars for a 10 day parkhopper under current conditions. Sorry, I can't remember how much it actually costs for such a ticket right now, so I am rounding it to $300. So currently, for $300 I can parkhop, stay in the park from open to close and ride as many rides as I wish. Hypothetically, if they implement these changes, would my $300 get me exactly what it is getting me now, and they would just chop money off the price for those who don't need to do the rides, or who only want to be there for a few hours? Or would they make $300 the bare minimum price and charge more if you want to do rides, stay all day, etc?

I'm thinking that the "no-rides" and "half day" tickets are being aimed at people who are only there for the day, and not on a multi-day vacation.
