Disney considering making more themed mod resort rooms (with pics and proof)

Yes they're all bands of freaks!

It's just how we roll.

Honestly how many teens do you know that would rather stay in a castle and see a princess over a night at the Hard Rock and a day full of mega-coasters?

I think we're now talking two different things here: specific experiences rather than parks in general. No - not all would want to stay in a castle and meet princesses, but they (in general) wouldn't turn down a trip to WDW. And who says they can't go to both Disney and Universal?

But if you're talking just coasters and thrill rides, there are plenty of those kind of parks closer to home, so they aren't anything special to us here in the Mid-Atlantic.

I feel like I'm taking crazy pills.

Did no one ever mention WDW caters to younger kids on this forum before?

How about a simple comparison...Halloween Horror Nights vs. Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party.

See the difference?

Which one do you think the average teen will be more interested in attending?

There's no such thing as an "average teen" anymore.

I have to agree that the sterotype of Disney being a place for little kids is a no brainer. I'm not saying that older kids don't enjoy it, but its not the "OMG CAN WE PLEASE GO TO WDW" type of enjoyment that they had when they were under the age of 8.

That said, prior to Harry Potter, I didn't know many people who were planing an out of state vacation around Universal.

I'm 21 and I still have that very same type of enjoyment, if anything I enjoy it all more than when I was a kid.

Stereotypes are just that, stereotypes. Can't paint large groups of people with the same brush. No two teens are the same. No two adults are the same.

They all look great, though I'd rather see HM a bit less cartoonish. I'm sure they exaggerated things a bit to make it less spooky for little ones, but as an adult I'd hope to see something more old looking and creepy.

Until the new Harry Potter area, I had no real interest in Universal at all myself. I went there on a trip to Disney in 1997, and wasn't that impressed. Universal was too much like Disney-MGM. About the only thing memorable about it was the E.T. ride.

They were just building IOA at the time, but even if it had been open by then, I doubt I would have preferred it over Disney - even if I had been a teenager at the time.

Back on topic, I wish they had the HM themed rooms when I was there! Even my 77-year-old mother wants to stay in one of those rooms! I hope they have them by Spring of 2012, which is when I *might* be able to afford another trip to WDW.

I'd love to see the mini-bar in those rooms. Heck, they could replace the bathroom with a walk-in mini-bar. With no shower and tons of alcohol, you could even get the Lindsay Lohan look during your stay. :ROFLOL:

loving it!

I think having an Orange County Sheriff sub station in the middle of Universal's walkway from the parking lot says enough about the type of behavior problems they have. And when it's Halloween Horror Nights they have to set up extra tents to detain more people. Can't get much more negative than that.

I see the Sheriff at bag check for the Disney parks, too, and there is a prominent cruiser parked under the Epcot monorail station - hard to miss. I chalk this up (in both Uni and Disney) more to a 9/11 response than to behavior problems.

I guarantee Disney would love to have the crowds UNI gets for HHN. The Glow Party in DL is a pretty big example of it.

I would love to stay in one of these rooms. But no one is going to pay $300/night. No way.

The pricing should be in line with the current Pirate-themed rooms.

Pirate themed rooms already cost between $179 and $304 a night depending upon the season and view. Water-View rooms at minimum cost $204 a night (weekday vaule season, +$10 during weekends).

I think we need to be a bit more specific as to when and what view a $300 HM room rate would be.

$300 during value season? Of course not. During Christmas? That's different.

Disney will likely price based on supply and demand and possibly what discounts could be offered.

EDIT: I'm thinking now that maybe Disney would change when is "peak" season for a HM room. I can't image it begin in high demand at X-mas (except for NBC fans or if no other space is available) so maybe Disney would make October a higher priced time to stay?

This interests me... When jt says there was riff-raff at Pleasure Island, he is chastised for it... And yet, an Orange Country Sheriff substation is needed in City Walk for obvious riff-raff reasons, and well, no one wants to even comment... One can surmise Disney had problems with drunken riff-raff and unruly teens in Pleasure Island just as Universal.. But, we all know, Disney just didn't know how to handle them...

Obviously Disney didn't want that kind of trouble on their property, which is aimed at mostly families... So, Pleasure Island debate settled.. :)

As for these rooms, MAKE THEM.. MAKE THEM NOW!!!

From the viewpoint of someone who worked in market research for more than 4 years, I can't help but play devil's advocate, and point out that many (if not most) surveys, particularly ones that feature products that haven't been released, have a disclaimer at the onset where, by clicking ahead, you agree not to speak about the contents of the survey (I'm guessing that includes posting screenshots on a fan site).

But, as a forum member and Disney Geek...

I LOVE these rooms! I'm not really big on the princesses (even when I was a little girl I was more into pirates, lol), but the HM room is just awesome. I'll admit, though, that sometimes I have vivid dreams, and when I'm on vacation I sometimes wake up in the middle of the night and forget for a second where I am...I can only imagine what the people next door will think when I wake up at 2am, see the Ghost Host, and scream like an idiot

I agree with some posters who think these belong more in the value resorts (obviously, these rooms would bump to mods). The reason I enjoy the moderate resorts, especially POFQ, is for the themeing they have now. I think that, as awesome as they are, these rooms would class with the intended theme.

Well, if the teens are vacationing by themselves - and do not have to consider the desires of younger siblings and their parents who are paying for everything - the answer is probably obvious for most.

School and other groups aside, and at least prior to College (spring break) age, teens appear to travel primarily with their families. Which will be of greater interest to everyone in the family - Halloween Horror Nights or Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party? Sure, it's not a teens first choice, but Mickey is a better choice for teens than Universal is for their young siblings.

Is it weird that I'm a teen boy and I like the animated rooms the best?

They should have done this a while ago.
