Let's say there's a WDWMagic Poster Showcase somewhere. It consists of pavilions dedicated to posters here at the mighty WDWMagic forums. And lucky you, you have your own WildcatDen pavilion. Every so often, Disney hits you up for money so they can keep the place up. You no pay, they no fix. After decades of this, it starts looking a little rundown. The Wildstrom ride isn't very popular anymore. But on the whole, your pavilion is not substantially better or worse than any of the others in the Poster Showcase. And overall, the PS is a heck of a lot better off than the mess made in the front of the park!

One day, Disney has a hit movie about animated wildcats called Catscratch. You're not in it. It's pure fiction, but there's a connection. They visited your house and took a couple of notes and then made up a story that takes place in a house that sort of resembles yours.

So Catscratch is a smash hit at the box office. That first Christmas, no one can find any toys or costumes. Disney eventually has a meet and greet with the main characters and the lines are absurd. Eventually, they decide to that Catscratch is actually going to remain popular and they need to do something. So they decide to retheme most of the WildcatDen pavilion to this completely made-up Catscratch story.

There's no doubt the pavilion will be the most popular in the PS by far. In fact, your showcase is going to be completely overrun by Catscratch fans. The attraction will be woefully incapable of handling the demand. What's more, there will be very little left of you in the pavilion bearing your name. Yes, it will be popular. But it won't really be about you any more.

How happy are you about that?
Just tell me one thing...is there alcohol served in Poster Showcase?

This in bold, spot on.

You only have to look at Universal Studios and dispicable me to see what kind of problems this attraction will cause. 90 minute waits within 30 minutes of opening. Not sure how capacity compares though. I do know that Universal isn't as deprived as Epcot in terms of things kids find interesting these days. This will be 120 minutes constantly and only not longer because most people think queing that long is obscene.

Why people keep throwing Star Wars and Toy Story land into the fold is beyond me. It will be great if/when they announce it, but for now its just useless to even mention in any fashion, whether its for excitement or to prop up ones failing argument, its pointless.

Well, there *is* something planned for the back corner of DHS. What it is and whether it comes to fruition is a different story.

(That bothan spy doesn't want it leaked out so I haven't been told)

Star Wars is going to happen (barring unforeseen global events) Whether it happens in a timeframe I like or lives up to my expectations.... IDK. We'll see.

And still nothing on D23 and a WDW announcement.

Anything involving Inside Out and Epcot is a fan-based rumor at the moment. Nothing in reality.

There is absolutely no reason for these discussions to get personal. I am convinced that Epcot fans just want to be angry and will viciously attack anyone who thinks otherwise. It's obvious and embarrassingly sad.

Given the state of the once great park, can you blame them?

I must have missed the vicious attacks. I've seen both sides give as good as they get. Heck, you're complaining about people taking shots at you while taking shots at all Epcot fans. If they are embarrassingly sad, we have to paint you with that same brush. You're not rising above the fray here.

The Poster Showcase is a rather unsavory place quite frankly.

On the upside, whenever a plant shows up we toss them over into the lake. ;)
The Wdisney9000 pavilion would be quite simple. Kegs of quality craft beer served by Margo Robbie and Kate Upton AA's with 80's top hits music playing. My ride would be a dark ride recreation of the OBT in its heyday. Done! You could fit in the tiny Africa section.

Disney and I couldn't come to terms over the use of my IP so I ended up making a deal with Universal. Fat Val Kilmer dolls are now the hottest selling souvenirs in Orlando and Sean Young's Hooch is an extremely popular beverage. We'll be opening Phase Two of Lebeau's Le Land some time next year. It's going to be themed to Bridget Fonda and Phoebe Cates. I expect it will be very popular. We'll also have a Steven Seagal dunking tank.

Are we talking Phoebe Cates getting out of the pool in Fast Times at Ridgemont or Phoebe Cates from Gremlins? These are important details, man.

Is that even a real question? ;) Fast Times, dude. Always Fast Times.

They'd probably have to name the film something else... "Catscratch" is already taken...

I don't know about Siren's posts - I don't generally follow people's posting histories, I try to take each post at face value. And I write lengthy posts myself - lengthy posts are not walls of text. Walls of text are run-on sentences or with no punctuation or no paragraphs that are all mushed together into one text block.

I've been in and out of this thread many times, but it gets tiring when you give an opinion or have a different idea about something and a half-dozen people throw groupthink at you and just end up arguing about everything but the point at hand. Getting told you are trolling or that you "just don't get it" or you are "licking Iger's shoes" (COME ON!) because you don't agree with whatever the group has decided everyone should feel about something.

A lot of folks just leave a thread after that and don't ever return, because it's obvious it's not a message board discussion and some regulars make it out to be a "we all agree" club meeting. I've got a thicker skin than that - but when one wonders why these threads go round and round, it's because when new perspectives come in they are shut up as quickly as possible, in rather unpleasant ways often times.
@AEfx I just wanted to thank you. You have really good sound logic and I totally agree with everything you've express here so eloquently.

I'm trying to understand your reasoning here because you're making a huge jump. You are arguing that Disney had to choose between two paths. 1. The path they have taken or 2. Putting Frozen in line behind everything else that is currently planned or underway.

But this is not reality. Disney had an infinite number of choices. They have the means at their disposal to start another project right now if they want to. They don't have to wait. They choose to. Just because they chose to hold off starting Avatar until after 7 Dwarfs was done does not mean they are under any obligation to continue following this pattern.

This slow, sad pace filled with decisions that are motivated by the bottom line above all else is entirely Disney's doing. Their hands are not tied.
I don't believe Disney had to choose two paths. You & I both know what Disney is capable of. I'm just making note of the paths Disney has recently chosen, and I have adjusted my expectations accordingly. There are still many things to get excited about and yes, the Frozen ride is one of them.

No it took 33 months which is less than three years.
The 7DMT was *announced* in January of 2011 and grand opening was in May of 2014. So...

Remember when WDW aficionados didn't have to lower their expectations?
The last exceptional awe inspiring attraction that Disney built was Expedition Everest way back in 2006 -- even with a broken yeti. It is now 2015 and we are still waiting. So, I don't really get all of the sudden uproar.

This notion that Disney shouldn't build anything at all unless it's like blah blah blah, is defeatist to me. There is this mindset that believes everything should remain the same unless it's like Tokyo or where ever and I just won't subscribe to that. If Tokyo is so great, I can book jet and go there. I don't expect WDW to morph into something it's not.

As a consumer, I still find some value in Disney -- I love the parks and I look forward to the changes that are coming soon and that includes the Frozen ride. If I didn't -- why else would I be here?

Just so I'm clear, you're abandoning the entire "It was either this or wait 10 years for Frozen" argument that you made all day yesterday, right? We're all going to agree that was just nonsense.

So now your argument comes down to, yes I know that the new Frozen ride is a shortcut driven by the bottom-line, but we should be excites about it anyway. Is that what you're getting at? Cause if so, I strongly disagree.

By chance, do you have a gift shop that sells lotion? My skin gets so dry at times.

If there's no reason for the discussion to get personal, why take cheap shots at Epcot fans in your next sentence?
I dont believe she had made it past 3 consecutive posts without contradicting herself and/or not following her own advice. Im sure the feminist card will be played shortly, then queue the (self declared) victimization followed by a disappearing act and random spouts about Norwegian tourism. Thats seems to be rather important for some reason.
