Disney confirms 'Frozen' makeover coming to Epcot's Norway Pavilion

Thanks for the update. So, with that info and the knowledge of load and unload being done at the old unload area, plus the information about a change in the path at the old load to make that into two show scenes, we have a strong sense as to what the ride will be like functionally.

The big question now would be the execution -- is this going to be a "book report" ride of the movie Frozen? Or will it somehow be more of a "Elsa, Anna and Olaf talk to you about Norway" kinda set up. I'm assuming the former.

The Disney Parks Blog post about this says...

"The new attraction, which replaces Maelstrom, will take our guests to Arendelle and immerse them in many of their favorite moments and music from the film"

This leads me to believe it will be the former.

In answer to a previous question (I think in this thread) - the upper floor of the ride will be the same layout as Maelstrom. Still in boats, still backwards section and track switches.

In fact it's Maelstrom without the Norway overlay.

Or Maelstrom with a Frozen skin.
Thanks for the confirmation and answer, Martin... but I still can't bring myself to "like" your reply (!)

There needs to be a response for "facepalm."

well, if they're mentioning Arendelle.. I do not see any educational or pro-norway effort in there.

Hopefully there will at least be Norway elements in the queue or post-ride (I'm assuming there will be a hallway taking you from the ride to the store after unload).

Sort of. It leads to an "exit lobby" where you can either exit, or go to the store.

The ratio of Frozen to Norway in the store's merch will be interesting to see...
Especially if they tease you with an exit door and a barrier across it.

Or the merch store at the meety thing next door may carry enough that the real pavilion can do without.

Yeah right.

that would be so epic if they dumped all the Olaf's into the meety thingy, I just don't want to lose the Helly Hansen products.

That brings up a good point. I enjoy looking at some of the Helly Hansen products at Norway, but I would never consider buying anything from that store. Many brick and mortar stores at WDW and elsewhere (Best Buy for example) have turned into places just to look at merchandise. When you decide to buy you can easily find the same products for far less money (and with free shipping and no tax) on the Internet.

You can stand in the store at Norway and look at a Helly Hansen jacket and then find the same jacket on your smart phone for less money. You can order the item and it will be delivered to your home before you return from your WDW vacation.

Not always, I have purchased two Jackets from that store within Epcot for less than I have found anywhere else, online or in person. Some Helley products are like a Victorinox watch or Oakley sunglasses, priced equally everywhere.

A lot of that depends on your level of Google-Fu. :D

I think I'd have almost no issue if it was the latter. Frozen charters showing off Norway wouldn't be the worst thing in the world. Yet we all know it will be the former. I doubt there will even be any explanation of why Arendelle has magically appeared in Norway.

I'm just going to drop this here for the people who aren't following Spirit's thread. Should make for an interesting comparison with the Frozen/Maelstrom overlay. ;)

"The overall theme for the new themed port at Tokyo DisneySea Park will be Scandinavia with a portion of the area being themed specifically to the world of the Disney film Frozen. "

Sadly some people will most likely still defend Frostrom.
