Disney confirms 'Frozen' makeover coming to Epcot's Norway Pavilion

That sounds likely, but an animatronic saying your name is old school, ET has been doing it for 25 years!
Have they fixed that yet? When I was there in October 14 they were skipping the name thing the cm there told me that the system was running on something like windows 95 and had crashed completely and was near impossible to fix so they were rewriting it in a modern operating system.

I think I heard from sources and insiders here that it is going to be extended as in inside the building. Not by adding a new building but making more use of space inside the current one
That would negate a lot of why the attraction is replacing Maelstrom (time and money). It'd be a hugef amount of work to make all of the right clearances fit a different layout.

It is working again.

I'm guessing they will be puting Elsas castle on top of the rocky hill Side in the caves but have it as a illusion like beast's castle

It seems doubtful that any existing scenery will be in the new attraction. Details on show scene order and design have not really made their way out just yet. I'd guess that a second Little Mermaid is likely, with a lot of space and money dedicated to the "Let it Go" scene.

I heard from some very reliable sources that the flume was going to be extended, at least a little bit. They have not started on that yet? It would seem a bit too late to start now (that is if they are still on time with their Dec. 2015 opening, but I doubt it...).

There's no way this track doesn't change or get extended. They're definitely going to change it up a bit or a lot.

The current ride path takes up the entire building. In order to extend any portion of the track they would have to build a new building and I don't think that's in the plans. The only area inside of the building that would be reconfigured into "possibly" use is the maintenance area.

Still sad that they demolished a perfectly good and high-attendance ride instead of just making Frozen an additional attraction.

Unfortunately, that seems to be a bit of a trend with WDW: new attractions must be offset with the removal of older ones.

Apart from Everest in 2006, I can't really think of the last new ride that wasn't accompanied by the loss of another.

Adding Frozen to a low-capacity ride like Maelstrom appears to be in contrast to the strategy of adding capacity to existing rides that do not meet demand, like Soarin' and TSMM. If they thought those two rides were under serving guests....

I have to imagine that Maelstrom will be moved back to Tier 1 for FP+ when it reopens, right? Maybe that will help out a little.

Well we wouldn't want them to do something smart like put it in DHS where there is a need for attractions now would we? :)

I think the Little Mermaid ride is new without replacing anything too? (although could argue it replaces 20,000 leagues). Of course Snow White closed when seven dwarves opened.

But look at the bright side, this now paves the way for the Yavin 4 rebel base attraction next door at the Mexico pavilion. It would be perfect.

I mean Yavin 4 was inspired by the Mayan pyramids. You don't have to have star wars in just the studios.

OK, I know I should know this, but what does NGE stand for?

Next Generation Experiance.

Some of the MagicBand stuff is the start of this like the on-ride photos & videos automatically being added to your account. But there are other entertainment uses for the bands coming. They installed TV screens at the end of It's a Small World and I'm not sure if they are in use yet but there is speculation that these woudl display a personalised Good-Bye. But other thoughts have been characters knowing your name from your MagicBand etc, in a similar way to ET always has done from the barcoded "passports".
