Disney confirms 'Frozen' makeover coming to Epcot's Norway Pavilion

I honestly didn't get this at all.

But that's fine. I didn't really understand your initial analogy but I can respect your opinion. :)

Well truth is my initial analogy was over simplified to the point of not being very good, I get that. But I was just trying to justify my opinion that Frozen could have been set in Norway if they said it was when it was released and used an actual Norwegian city instead of Arandele and then no one would have a problem.

And even if it was explicitly set in Norway, it would still not be a Norwegian film or story.

I feel the core issue at the heart of this argument is whether or not WS and Epcot in general should be less about Disney animation/characters like MK and be more like what is was initially meant to be. Character M&G are accepted to a point but creating rides and attractions based on Disney movies/characters seems to go against what WS and Future World are about. People feel that each of the parks should have its own distinctive identity/MO, which I agree with. As I have expressed before, WDW should be more of a salad bowl than a melting pot. But again, this is all a matter of opinion and to each their own.

Weeelllll, less of a problem. It still wouldn't be part of actual Norwegian history.

If the faithful have their way we will have 4 MKs devoid of any depth and up to our eyeballs in "DISNEY!"

I know it's just me, but I don't go to WDW because I want to bathe in all things Disney 24/7. I go because it used to be a relaxing and beautiful resort with some world class theme parks.

I don't want to be awash in a "Brand".

Yes agreed. I believe creating uniformity would ruin the WDW experience. The diversity and potential for further diversification is what puts WDW in a class of its own. Something for everyone.

I hope you're joking..

specifically the MULAN part. Are you barking mad?
at this point I wonder if you're just trolling.

I was not trolling, but if you ask a 4year old after watching one of those cartoons what country they originated from they would (in most cases) not have an answer for you. Is that such a preposterous notion? and yes, Mulan might be the one exception.

I don't understand what is trying to be argued here. So because a child cannot determine what country a certain movie is based on, it should not matter what they put in WS pavilions as long as it has some kind of connection however loose it may be?

*Edit: Not trying to be rude/condescending in any way. It is just that I honestly do not understand.

I wonder the same, this guy sometimes says things that are completely illogical.

Sigh... problem is I was using that to make a point and so you are taking it out of context of the conversation. I was not arguing for characters in world showcase. But rather that, Frozen, since it is coming to WS whether we like it or not, I feel fits in Norway just as much as some of those other cartoons would fit in their respective countries pavilions. Ok I really don't want to discuss this anymore.... I am sorry to everyone that it has run on this long already...

You keep saying that but when given other aesthetic examples call them "obvious bait." That indicates that the argument from aesthetics is seriously flawed.

IMHO, You're the one that's taking everything out of context.
Seems you're trying way too hard to cram/skew the whole conversation, trying to make it fit towards your single point of view.

Understood. But other than M&G locations and the Three Caballeros update in Mexico (not sure how I feel about that one), there are no attractions based on any of the cartoons. I believe most people are concerned that this Frozen attraction will be the start of a slippery slope that transforms WS into MK Fantasyland.

Seems like you are hoping for failure to win the 'argument'. You complain about mediocrity but then root for mediocrity. This is going to happen even if we do not like it. So I am hoping it will be awesome, because if it is not, we will still be stuck with it for quite some time.

I'm not a fan of where Frozen is going. Nothing against having a ride based on Frozen, just it's location (wanted to clarify because that seems necessary ... not saying you but just saying ...)

I agree that I would have hoped it would at least be well done. I'm disappointed though not surprised if there are budget cuts to the ride because of the "all important" M&G they suddenly decided to erect. Which I have to say, even though I DON'T want to lose that expansion pad to a meet and greet, they WERE smart to put the M&G in it's own building.

Yes, moving on. As this is still a forum to discuss this attraction, does anyone have a rough estimate of the budget or amount required to fund this remake/update? Was always curious about the financials behind attractions.
