Disney officials closed the Rock 'n' Roller Coaster at Disney-MGM Studios on Wednesday after a rider fell ill. The ride was inspected and reopened as usual on Thursday, WESH 2 News reported. A Disney spokeswoman said a 59-year-old man got sick about three hours after riding the roller coaster with family members. He was taken to a local hospital. Disney officials closed the ride after they learned about the man's illness so that the ride could be investigated.

Could it be food poisoning and not the coaster? Hrm never thought about that... :hammer: Why wait after 3 hours? I could ride a few rides in 3 hours...

3 hours and they blame it on the coaster? So, wait, if I get the flu in a few days it's probably because of that Peter Pan's Flight ride I took a year and a half ago.

Oh geez. I just threw up, it couldn't POSSIBLY be a combination of the heat, the walking, and all the greasy food I've been eating at Disney...oh no, it MUST be that roller coaster I rode three hours ago!!

after everything with mission space, people are pointing the blame really quick on disney rides. RRC isnt really that intense compared to ms. In my oppinion i think people are just to sue happy now-a-days.

I think Disney hurt's the rides reputation by closing the ride due to something like this. I think they should have closed all the food locations she ate at that day too!!!! :hammer:

It's those type of news stories that make otherwise reasonable sane people insane and hysterical.

The guy could have gotten a virus from somebody two days ago and it just manifested itsself but because they sensationalist media is all over every little thing in his eyes it could only have been the ride.:brick:

No where in the article does it day he is suing.... And no where did he blame Disney or Rock N Roller Coaster... As always, maybe all the facts need to be heard BEFORE attacking this guy, the media, and the ride itself.. Haven't we learned anything yet???

Possibilty: Only ride he was on was Rock N Roller Coaster... felt funny after riding it, got completely ill 3 hours later... When asked what is activities for the day or what rides he was on, he stated RNRC... Therefore, Disney did the right thing, shut it down, inspect it quickly, and reopen when nothing was found wrong.... Disney did its due dilligence on this one....

Possibility: Heat, hunger, food poisoning could all be factors...

Let's stop the blame game people...

Or, it could have been a restraint malfunction which caused to the rider to bang their head and gave them a concusion.

Disney didn't know what happened so they closed the ride, inspected it, determined it was operating within expected parameters and then reopened the ride.

It was the responsible thing to do.

It's HarmonioUS, NOT HarmoniYOU.
I once got the sniffles after riding Splash Mt... one cold night in DEC.

I demanded they shut the ride down... but my pleas to save human lives were ignored. :(

Not to be a sour puss. But I know that last year (2005) I sat in the front row for the first time. It was not a wonderful feeling. It take took my breath away and I continued not to feel quite right for a couple of hours.

I was in my late 30's at the time. So someone in there 50's (combined with heat and other issues) could have taken awhile to want to mention it.

I did not mention to my husband right away that I had not enjoyed the ride sitting in the front row or what effect it had on me.. Later when he wanted to ride again and sit in the front row, I had to tell him that it was not an enjoyable ride for me in the front.

I still ride it and LOVE it, but not in the front row. Do I think that the ride is unsafe or should be closed. NO! I rode it 5 times during my 2006 vacation!

I know what it is called. It is called Irodetherollercoasteroldman bug. It has been going around these days but this is the first of its kind to hit RnRc. It is like the lovebug but more to the old people in the world today.

I'm amazed. At no point did anyone mention the word "SUE", yet the blame game is on.
No one knows why the person got ill. As it's been said, maybe food, heat, medication he may be taking, etc. In any case the ride was shut down and opened later, simple.
If this was YOUR father my hope is that you wouldn't be making jokes about it or lodge a complaint against him that he is sue happy.
This sad when people pass judgement without facts.

I wonder what else he did in the 3 hours following the coaster ride.......

That's the thing. No one knows what he did before or after RNRC... As I have said, and others have said, this could be just a heat related thing, food poisoning, whatever... They did not ONCE blame RNRC.... The only facts we know are he rode RNRC and got sick... Disney did the right thing to check the ride out... For all we know, RNRC may have been the only ride he was on (highly doubtful) and hence, he is quoted as being sick after riding RNRC...

No one is or was calling for the ride to be closed... Just saying Disney did the right thing..
