Disney buys 1000 acres of land

Agree with you. Though stocks are now at least and “canary” in the mine. When the big gamblers start cashing chips - they already know that it’s heading. The economy always goes down when that happens because it’s a convenient excuse to slash salaries and send stuff to whoever still sells sweatshops. It happens every time.

But the underlying problems are still the same: overleveraged real estate, no attention to the consumer credit and college debt bubbles, elimination of skilled labor.

Oh brother...
“Rise of the resistance”?? I had forgotten for a minute that they are doubling down on their bland nonsense...yoi

And by the way...those are just trackless, which is old technology now...it’s tough to decry them as “groundbreaking”...I think fligjt of passage is more likely to still be a higher quality ride when those open.
I think the groundbreaking aspect of MMRR will be the 2.5-D effect throughout the ride. See below.

I think the groundbreaking aspect of RofR will be the grand scale and incredibly immersive environments. Plus I hear the pre-show is pretty killer.

These 2 trackless rides will put Rat to shame. Don't get me wrong Rat is a fun attraction using LPS, but MMRR and RotR will use the LPS with more physical sets and some new tricks. It's sad that Rat is opening a year later than the other 2. After seeing the concept and AAs for the Tokyo Beauty and the Beast ride, I kind of wish we would have gotten it (in the MK) instead. Epcot needs a ride like Rat, but there will be 2 better LPS rides at DHS.

As someone who lives here, it would only serve to make Orlando a miserable place to live

The crowds likely won't ever stop coming. Did you choose to move to the area or have you grown up there? I mean, if you live in Orlando, it comes with the territory. As someone who's there weekly, it's not pleasant driving at all and the crowding is a bit much anymore. I personally would never choose to live there. I'm good an hour and a half away :p :joyfull:

That video reallt tells me nothing...the video for BATB in Tokyo looks way more interesting from the promotional video...
I hope it is great, but I surely can;'t predict from what I have seen...

Born and raised. I've lived in Orlando for almost 30 years and I am going to move as soon as I have the means. I'd never choose to live here

That speaks to one of my frequent refrains...giving credit for things not open.

I see “groundbreaking” here...I see “most immersive land” listed other places. That is spin for the hype machine. I HOPE it’s true...but it has to deliver.

Star Wars NEEDS it...they really do. I annoy @MisterPenguin with the Costco sized dose of posts...but about 1/3 of them was the Star Wars debate. It’s tough to quantify in an evolving media/economic world precisely. But I’ll stand on this: it has gone down arrow since this development was announced. Really bad couple of years. They really need a rebound for more reasons than just a park attendance spike. It’s the long game and if you aren’t in it for that, why buy lucasfilm?

Kevin is SO much better and more authentic in his enthusiasm than Chapek!

And he still uses a teleprompter. The difference being his passion is actually conveyed to the audience. He appears to be genuinely excited.

Hey Bobs, just let Kevin do all the PR event/reveal, D23 stuff from now on.

They've apparently had issues conveying the effect through video. Some folks in the industry I've talked to have seen the general effect and were very impressed.

Totally get it! lol. I'd never choose to live there (folks, don't think it's glamorous living near Disney). I'm sorry you had to get overcrowded over the years :/

I appreciate that. Perhaps if I was a retiree living at the Margaritaville development I'd like it more :hilarious:

lmao! So true. It's always so busy and overrun with people. I just couldn't. It's one of those "nice to visit but I'm glad to go home" places ... but I can see in some ways why some like living around the area.

It really is supposed to be very impressive.

They might just want to own as much land around them as possible. That was the issue Walt had with Disneyland was all of the junk right outside his gates. So they just want to keep as much of the land around them under their control.

Except that they have also sold off chunks of land...
Wouldn't be the first time I was wrong. :) I don't know of where they have owned, sold, purchased but maybe the price is too good sometimes, or they would rather know who they sell it to? I really don't know, not an expert... but its interesting if someone does know :)

I think it is a combination of complex factors. In any case, lately they seem to be more inclined to hold onto land. And now even buy more. Good move I think.

Would like to see uni do the same. Festival Bay?
