Disney Buying LucasFilm! WHOA

Couple thoughts:
- In regards to Indiana Jones, it will be interesting to find out just what rights Paramount has to the franchise. Paramount I suspect will retain the rights to distribute any future films.
I would think, without looking it up, that the rights to the character now fully belong to Disney, opening the door to new attractions. (Somebody get Mike Eisner on the line, he's the one that made the deal. Funny how stuff comes full circle, huh?)

- No. There aren't gonna build a Star Wars park in the US. Probably not anywhere else either. Let's just leave that alone.

- I agree with what was said above, Disney needs to get moving NOW to get new attractions in the pipeline. Fast-track them. Get them up and running within the next, say...three years. People will wait for them...but only for so long before it becomes just...silly.

- I wouldn't want to be Avatarland today. Forgotten...pushed to the back...dismissed....Cameron may be a bit...displeased by today's news.

- Wonder if they would let Joss slide over into Star Wars and hand off Avengers 2. The mind reels at the prospect of a Whedon written/directed Star Wars. Nah...very unlikely.

Couldn't agree more on all points....I think Lucas and paramount have a new three picture deal that started with crystal skull. Remember Lucas saying that after it opened.
Still think Ridley Scott's style would fit Star Wars.
Avatar means nothing now...how upset would people be if Disney said they are sorry but there is no money for Star Wars rides because we are building the avatar attraction. Don't think that would go over very well.

True. But if Avtarland is done halfway right, by the time it opens Star Wars being owned by Disney will be old news. People will be talking about the new trailer for episode 7.
It'll only be forgotten if Disney sits on their hands and doesn't get a project in the pipeline. If we aren't eagerly anticipating the opening of a new Star Wars or Indy ride by then....fail.

2 was downright unwatchable. Revenge of the Sith stands up to, if not exceeds the original trilogy. Phantom Menace had solid elements (Darth Maul, Pod Racing).
I would disagree, E1 is unwatchable, while E2 has elements that are worthwhile, IMHO ofcourse!

Agree on 1 and 3 but Ep 2 wasn't *that* bad, it had some great stuff in it. The romance aspect was very awkward, which I think it was supposed to be, but unfortunatly got a little too awkward.

It's just a serious lack of creativity....

Marvel was a great buy it has so much scope and growth and opportunity..... I don't see the growth and quality coming from buying Lucas film.... I'm sorry I don't.

There is no growth in Star Wars? I don;t see how there isn't... we'll have to agree to disagree. lol.

So do you think a star wars/Lucas land is coming to DHS along with a Pixar expansion?

One would think some exec somewhere would think of the synergy possibilities now that Indy's an in-house property and kindly build a/the ####in' Indy ride we've been waiting for in WDW for 15+ years.

Nah...Ridley tends to be a bit too dark for Star Wars. Besides he's busy combining the Alien and Blade Runner universes.

No...Star Wars should be in the hands of someone who loves the whole mythology and universe.
Someone who would cut off his pinky to get his hands on Star Wars.

I just hope Disney keeps it's normal cast of goons away from Star Wars. I don't want to see Johnny Depp, Tim Burton, Gore Verbinski, or Jerry Bruckheimer anywhere near these films.

If anyone, give it to Brad Bird.
I get ill at the thought of it. However, I could see Depp as Han Solo. I wouldn't WANT to see it, but he is plausible in the role.

I think you and I both know that a new Star Wars ride in 3 years is beyond wishful thinking. I mean, they have been doing these weird, left-field announcements lately, so anything could happen. But we all know the way this company works. There will be more theme park developments...eventually. And that is what is so sad about the current state of things. They will toss out 4 billion dollars while WDW is in shambles. That kind of money could fix the entire resort. That should tell us about company priorities. I mean, they are smart moves but still troubling. This new "gobble franchises and companies up" concept is strange to me and I am still not seeing the big picture yet. This will be a waiting game. Perhaps we will know something more in December?

I was thinking Peter Jackson, but I'm sure he's unavailable because of The Hobbit films.

My point was Universal doesn't have any reason to panic and rush announcing something they aren't ready to announce because Disney may be putting Star Wars in DHS...sometime.

Oh, right. Well, maybe not panic but be concerned definitely... Star Wars is a proven franchise and has been for a lot longer than Potter...
