It would be nice if they did include the EU. But the more I think about it, the more I realize just how daunting that would be. Where would they start? There are so many good story lines to follow. It's probably better that they are just starting from scratch.

Vong, and nothing a good prescroll couldn't fix.

Screamscape says that Disneyland Paris is getting a mini Star Wars land in 2015 complete with a Indoor Jedi Academy and Cantina Restaurant, with unknown phase 2 attractions coming online later. What are the chances we get those additions at the Studios in the near future?

The source of the news is this post in Alain Littaye on his blog Disney&More:

It's a good blog with a lot of insights, if you don't know it, but actually his news often tends to be no more than educate guesses, à la Jim Hill i dare to say, FYI.

I would love to see the Vong in the movie, but that story would take all three sequels they are planning. Besides, it would likely take too long to set the story up so that the general public could understand what was going on and even then, the story would get butchered for the sake of fitting it into three movies. If they went with the EU then they should use one of the smaller story lines.

When the educated guess comes from better sources it's legit rumors. Very rarely do rumors originate from a true decision maker, it usually originates from someone that's working on a project or has knowledge of a project.

Case in point, Jim Hill stated publicly that Disney and Lucasfilm were negotiating a sale. He didn't have a precise timeframe but knew it was happening. This come out well before it became public. I know Alain Littaye has had similarly significant scoops.

For some reason I decided to watch TPM last night. It is absolutely turrible. It reminded me how devastated I was leaving the theater in '99.

Like many of my age, I tried hard to delude myself into thinking it was a good movie. Finally, upon the third viewing, the mental dam broke and I allowed myself to dislike the movie. It was a hard thing after such a long wait.

This rumor has been around for awhile and I agree with the other poster I would put more clout on this than Jim Hill. Especially since phase 1 includes an already known ride program and only a restaurant.Doubt they ever the the preposed other ride

Of course those are two things that have been rumored for DHS before -- the Cantina replacing the Backlot Express and the Jedi Academy going into the Sounds Dangerous space. If the plans are actually on the table for Paris, it could mean they are considered for Florida as well. Or it could just be a false rumor about Paris anyway.

Even if it isn't on the table today... Once the design work is done porting it over should be feasible.

Everyone points out that Disney does what they do with WDW because of the bottom line. Methinks, ye olde corporate wallet would get even fatter with a Cantina. However, I am but a lowly fan who can't comprehend the sheer genius of every decision made about the World.

A Cantina alone isn't enough, although it would be a nice addition. DHS already has a Star Wars presence with Star Tours, Jedi Training and Star Wars weekends, so Star Wars fans are probably already going there. If a Star Wars land is built it has to be something pretty significant to get people into the park when they weren't originally planning to go.

You may be right, but I was looking at it another way. My family probably averages 10 days or so a year at WDW and we don't always do the dining plan. Sometimes we cook in our unit or if we drive down eat out, etc. especially if we're planning on hitting things offsite. Anyhoo, when we don't do the dining plan we might do one or two sit down meals at the World or we might not. The Cantina would be something I would do every trip unless it was completely lameified. I don't know how many people out there would be like me though.

Agreed.

In response to some of these other posts:

The prequels were financially sucessful. Also, I talked to many younger people about them and they not only loved them but told me that they think they should re-do the originals to make them more like the prequels!

I can see how Original Trilogy fans were disappointed by the newer ones but they were far from being horrible. If those are the worst movies you've seen, you need to see more movies! There were some clunky, awkward moments and some stiff dialogue. But you know, when the originals were out, critics accused them of the same things. I see it as a case of the original audience growing, while the films really didn't and the fans feeling jilted as a result.

I also think that the films were plenty dark enough, especially the third one. In fact, I can see OT fans not liking the first two but the third one was really good and a great lead up to the original film.

I think it's just one of those cases where people are going to see what they want to see. There were plenty of great moments in the prequels. If you can watch the films and enjoy them for what they are, great. If you want to sit there and jump on every awkward line or cringe at every little alien in the background that you don't like or whatever, then you're not going to like them, which is fine. For me, I was happy to have 3 more SW movies. I loved the hype, the anticipation and the whole experience overall. It was fun, which is what Star Wars is supposed to be. No matter what happens in these new ones, I intend to have fun with them again and i hope others will as well.

Twilight and High School Musical: nuff said.

Did any of the prequels get nomianted for a best picture oscar? I think the evidence for your claim that the OT and the PT are the same and it the audience that has changed is based on a very small, inaccurate sample size. The fact of the matter is that the original was successful and popular by its own merits, and the prequels were successful because of the originals. How else could they make so much money, yet receive such consitant critism. The prequels are not completely bad, but bad enough that they were a big diappointment. To me, a movie that has poor acting, poor direction (as evidenced by the poor acting of skilled actors), and rediculous dialog is not a good movie. This deviates from the originals completely based of the body of evidence ie award nominations, fan/critic reaction etc. Compared to the OT, Lucas wrote all of his own scripts without any rewrites. This was one of the primary issues with the PT.

You say the audience changed but the films are virtually the same. Essentially you are saying that those who are not fans of the PT are swayed by factors beyond the merits of the film. But isn't that why you LIKE the PT? You said you were just happy to have new Star Wars. To you the quality is irrelevant. That makes your opinion that the PT is great no more relevant than the opinion that the OT is far superior by your own argument.

And if the fans are the ones that have changed and not the quality of the PT, then would the opinion of the OT change over time for those same fans?
