Debbie Downer is JUST NOW making her way into the forum after all the previous doom and gloom threads on the forum the past few weeks?

I hope that whoever got hit is make an full and swift recovery.
Actually, she made at least one appearance. I can't remember who it was, but I remember them telling me that they were going to.

I'm sorry to hear about this. I hope that everything ends up ok for all of those involved. :)

On behalf of the entire cast of Walt Disney World regarding the gentleman who got run over by the bus, we'd like to say, That's one down, 178,000 to go!;)

He had a Universal shirt on,or the bus driver just got his laid-off notice.:ROFLOL:Anywho this cant be the truth because the whole world would know by now since this is bad news at WDW.

It's almost scary how Disney can keeps this like this from leaking out into the media. At this point I'm wondering if anything will be reported at all.

With all of the witnesses how come nothing has been reported? It doesn't make sense, especially since it's Disney and the Orlando news stations cover just about every little accident, gun shot and break-in on the morning news. Something like this would have made the news instantly.

In Detroit there are dozens of murders, gun shots and robberies that go unseen on the news because there are so many. :(

I definitely believe that this happened, as the topic was posted on another website shortly after it happened.

Topic 1
Topic 2

I feel horrible for whoever got hurt in this accident and hope it wasn't too serious. Unfortunately, the whole incident could've been prevented if the van didn't stop in the "Disney buses only" area and/or the Disney bus driver was paying more attention.

i was there. all i saw was what i thought to be a UFO abducting the Contemporary, all sorts of flashing lights and stuff. then I opened my Magic Kingdom view curtains to see quite a scene! No Lie: at least 4 ambulances, maybe double that, at least one fire truck, maybe two, and AT LEAST a DOZEN! cop cars! outside the contemporary! immediately my attention was drawn to the grassy noll between 7 seas lagoon and world drive in front of the contemporary. at least 5 cop cars were, as it seemed, pointing their spot lights into the lagoon. Had someone jumped in? was my first thought. THEN Suddenly, a huge helicopter flies directly over the California Grill (one floor above me on the 14th floor). and lands right in the middle of the grassy noll where all the cops were pointing their lights. and im talking a BIG helicopter, one of those medical ones - so this got me all roussed up. it was scary.

I later found out that an entire family was involved in a horrific crash in the bus lane! The family decided to load/unload in the bus lane, less than 50 feet away from the Porte Cochre, I guess because they thought it was more convenient for them. Look what convenience got them... an air-lift to ORMC (eww) they didnt even get to go to Celebration Health! The family included 3 children, mother and father, and grandparents! at least one person air-lifted, maybe two (conflicting reports).

The bus came around the newly constructed bus loop (probably too fast) and WHACKED right into the back of the SUV! the SUV lunged forward about 5 feet with the children inside. Mother and Grandmother were severly injured. dad was scratched up on the knee.

How do I know all this? well, I met the family! nice people.. I met them the next day after the crash as they were being escorted to the Presidential Suite on the same floor I was on (Tower Club Concierge Level). (they were upgraded from all-star!) The dad had still not showered as he was going back and forth to ORMC to see his wife and mother-in-law. He wore His bloody knee and bloody shirt like battle scars. The father admitted he shouldnt have been in the bus lane, but that doesnt mean Disney wont be making a withdraw from their settlement budget.

thanks for the clarification tn1999. I suspect the presidential suite is only the beginning for this family. they may have a good share of the DVC resorts, etc. by the time its done!!;)

I work with the local Orlando media, I am no longer a member of the working press, but I do work with them. There are many reasons why this may not have made the news. Locally, the Casey Anthony case has been the show stealer in local news lately, so maybe it just isn't what the local news is looking for right now.

Also, when the media shows up at Disney to something similar as stated they are usually asked to leave, in a very nice way (honestly, Disney Security is really nice when they ask media to leave) as Disney is private property. Some local stations are known to take handi cams into/or around the area and get video of "the scene" and then make a big deal when they are asked to leave the property.

Is Disney trying to cover anything up? No. If a traffic report was filed, it's public record, you just have to know specific details to find the specific report. Florida has the "Sunshine Law" meaning everything is in the open, so traffic citations written by Orange County Sheriff's Dept and/or Reedy Creek Fire Rescue are technically public record. If 911 was called, anyone can call and ask for a recording from the responding agency that handled the call.

Now, once at the hospital, federal law prohibits information to be released with out the patients consent, so that's a whole different ball game and Disney has nothing to do with that. It's call the HIPAA act.

It all depends on the day and what else is going on in the media, and like I said earlier, other things have dominated the news lately.

There, you have it from someone who got out of the business (kinda) because of reasons already stated by others... I saw the light and got out!

Yeah well I'm still in the biz and holding on to some sort of blind faith.

I give it about 18 months before i find a new profession. See which way the wind blows then.

Ok I didn't read the entire thread because I didn't want to see 20 'you're lying' sarcastic posts. =P But I can say I was trying to get back to the Grand Floridian that day and we were stopped by patrol and told we could NOT go to the Contemporary. There was actually quite a backup. We were allowed through to the Grand but told twice the road to the Contemporary was closed.

Good luck to you. My faith is dashed, and I'm already taking steps toward a new profession. Could have something to do with the company I work for (*cough*Gannett*cough*). Talk about slash and burn, to steal from another thread. :(

Threadjack over, thanks. I do think crazydaveh also makes some excellent points as to why you might not have seen this in print or on TV.

Gannett? Didn't they have a huge profit margin and still swing the axe 2 weeks before Christmas?

Sounds as bad as the former Tribune companies. I still blame Sam Zell for accelerating the death of the industry.

My family was watching this whole thing take place from the 8th floor of the Contemporary. We saw the helicopter come take away the victim. It was one person taken away in the helicopter. How do I know this? Two nights later, my two year old rolled off the bed and perfectly hit his head on the corner of the marble nightstand. Why they have those with such sharp edges I do not know. The Disney parameds came along with the manager of the Contemporary to look at his head. He received butterfly bandages and was O.K. The manager brought up two mickey dolls and two minnie dolls for the 4 kids. We asked him what had happened two nights previously and he told us the same story the poster above posted. He said the person was in stable condition. The bus driver had not had any previous accidents (per the manager).

One and the same. Three rounds of layoffs this year, and rumors of more in first quarter next year. :brick:Cheers!

And thanks, disneymomof4, for the update.

fake?

Are you serious? Why would I post something fake? I only joined this message board because my husband I could not find anything in the news about this or on the internet except for this forum. Do you want me to post pics of my sons head? I wish now I had taken a video of the air-vac rescue. It is just as the poster descibed it. Cops, ambulances, helicopter, etc. The contemporary manager said the car was illegally parked and when the bus hit the SUV, the mom was pulled under the bus. She was strapping a child into the SUV. The helicopter landed on the grassy place beside the lagoon. We were watching the water parade when all of this happened.

Ah yes.... the glorious Gannett company. My wife worked for the company for 13 years in Management.

Her career ending when I stepped in and made her leave. There was a really bad strike in Detroit News and her bosses were trying to make her and other managers from all over the country go and work there and deliver papers. My wife was 7 months pregnant at the time and they still were giving her pressure about going.

To boot it was a bad situation. Gannett had to buy thousands of tires and stock them in a wharehouse due to the fact that strikers were putting broken glass all around the place blowing tires on anyones cars that were trying to deliver.

I told my wife she is not going and she needs to find another career.
Thank God she is now a Teacher.
