Disney announce plans for 15th anniversary of Disney's Animal Kingdom

Hi,

Long time lurker, first post. I have to say I am a bit of a pixie dust addict, somewhat rehabilitated. While I love the complete experience of being at Disney, I also see the lack of commitment on their part to that experience. I am happy they choose to acknowledge AK’s milestone, but it strikes me as telling that at the 15th anniversary celebration, not a single president is there. It is all vice-presidents. Was this not planned far enough in advance to fit the higher ups schedules, or is just not that important?

Food for thought anyway.

While I agree it needs help, AK is my favorite park. You can honestly get so immersed in the theme, you forget where you are. There's so much potential at this park, I wish they'd realize it!

Wasn't Everest announced at the 5th anniversary event?
The "big" marketing stunt done for the ride that really let everyone know about it was the event in Times Square, but it was originally announced 5th anniversary event, yes. Here we are 10 years later, the park has seen no other major additions. Hell, the only noteworthy add besides Everest was Finding Nemo: The Musical, and even that was just a replacement (albeit an upgrade).

EDIT: Looks like Steve was right!

If you was an exec of a company, would you be proud to show your face at Animal Kingdom? I'd imagine half of them either don't know it exists or don't waste their time going because there is nothing much new there since they were last there on April 22nd 1998 :)

I believe the highest any single park goes is VP, if I'm not mistaken?

I wouldnt be so sure about that seeing the track record of d23's "uneventful" past. If I do recall there are more announcements made outside of a d23 event than at one...Do recall all the letdowns of the last few years of d23 members expecting major announcements only to be let down with no information what so ever, but to be later just released to the public..
I still dont get what the big infactuation is with that club..

Back on the real topic. Finally a chance to see Joe Rhode and possibly a chance to at least thank him for designing/building my family's favorite disney park. Earth Day 2013 will be a good day, cant think of anywhere else
I would want to spend my earth day.

They aren't going to announce anything they can save for D23. Why waste it on an event that will receive very little media coverage or main stream interest?
