No one cares about the terrible movie about the haunted pool? LOL. It sounds so ridiculous that I absolutely have to see it.

Either way, he fled to Degobah then, not when he was nearing death. Doesn’t that put him also into the abandoning-his-friends-to-sulk-in-exile category?
IMO? No. The Jedi just got wiped out. While he couldn't foresee the future ("always in motion is the future") and how it would turn out, he was wise enough to know there was no way he was going to win at that time. Far better to lay low until the time was right to train Luke. Who knows maybe he thought Obi-Wan would train him?

ETA: in his long life he as near death, Its what 18-20 years from RoS to ESB. Maybe 30? He wasn't what he once was and I'm not sure he is even in his prime in AoC. The Jedi by that point are stagnant and a failing force. Not near their greatest points.

I meant we’re well past that point already.
On my end, it is not telling me what is being quoted so I do t know what you are responding to. It posted “M” in one spot and “getting” in another spot. I have no idea what either one means but I’ll assume the site is glitching out- it would not be the first time.

Perhaps Luke had the same foresight? ;)

On a more serious note, it honestly doesn’t bother me that many dislike Luke’s character arc in Episode VIII. I know all too well how we develop certain notions about the characters we love and react badly when those characters behave in ways that don’t make sense to us (you may recall my displeasure at what they did to Daenerys). It’s only when such complaints are generalised into broad and untenable characterisations that I object.

Ouch.

If you're going to do that, at least try to sneak in with a kid's or senior's ticket.

I get where you are coming from and yes I do remember that discussion.

For my own part Luke isn't even close to the Top 5, maybe Top 10 of why I dislike Episode VIII. Especially in light of he's not even my favorite character from the OT.

Somewhat related (and you better have the right answer here!) :)

Monty Python and the Quest for the Holy Grail and Life of Brian?
So, big confession: Monty Python is a huge gap in my knowledge. I have seen Life of Brian and loved it, but I’ve yet to watch the other films or the show itself. Unforgivable, I know, but I plan to rectify the situation soon.

I know John Cleese well from Fawlty Towers, which is my favourite sitcom of all time.

HERESY!

I won't say any more to spoil it but there will be a scene where you'll chuckle (or not perhaps) in relation to me pointing that out.

Life of Brian might be better than Holy Grail and Holy Grail is damn near perfection.

The only correct answer is The Meaning of Life.
Life is Brian is close second.

Funny, I've always felt Meaning of Life to be off. Not sure why. Granted its been a long time since I watched that one.

Not as well known but for me, Yellowbeard is up there, possibly Top 3 for MP maybe for the sheer goofy-ness of it.

And to continue the "Britishfest" of the evening, I'm listening/watching to Seconds from Disaster while puttering in the man cave. The episode is about the air accidents of the De Haviland Comets in the 1950s. Crazy stuff.

What about Yoda’s self-exile?
It's no different than obi-wan. Luke went to die, to never be heard from again. He said that was his plan. Yoda and obi-wan were a live to fight another day scenario. Not a Patrick Star, "I've done all I can do" scenario, like Luke. That's the difference. There was a plan, a new hope as they say. So the exiles were in no way similar in my opinion.

...

And don't forget, Poor Things is going to start playing in more than 800 theaters and make big money once everyone realizes it got a Golden Globe nomination.

Ah, don't pick on Poor Things too hard.

It definitely was not made to be a commercial film and it's a minor miracle that, given the subject matter, it was even able to see the light of day from a subsidiary of the mouse.

As I recall it, Yoda seemed very reluctant when Luke found him and had to be convinced to come out of retirement.
