Disney (and others) at the Box Office - Current State of Affairs

Box office is out for Monday the 18th, the first day of Christmas school vacation for many children coast to coast.

Wish had a slight bump from last week due to that, up 14% from a week ago Monday. Will Wish be able to get to $60 Million domestically by the end of Christmas vacation in early January? Something to wish for.

Hmmmm! Interesting! I don’t want to get my hopes up, but this does sound promising.😎

They used to say for Hollywood Pictures - If it Sphinx, it Stinks.

Maybe we can use, if there is a Castle, it's not worth the Hassle.
Or we can use the phrase, “If you’re a Disney hater, see ya later!!!”

Because if one is a Disney hater and spending all their free time posting hate on a Disney fan site, maybe such individuals should go elsewhere and find a new hobby. That’s all.

If everyone posted happy thoughts about Disney all the time, I think this forum would be very boring. I'm glad there are a variety of opinions on here, even the ones I disagree with. As long as it doesn't get ugly with personal insults!
Nice idea, but a significant number of people on here clearly loathe everything that Disney does, and frankly, it is pathetic. This is supposed to a Disney fan site, but it has become so full of hateful trolls that it is unbelievable. Obviously, criticism of various aspects of the company makes sense when valid. I have done so myself. But the current group of haters hates every single thing no matter what they do.

So you can't be a fan and want them to do better? Most of the world right now feels the brand is lackluster.

They can't often hit top in animation anymore, and they certainly are not number one in family films outside of last dying irreverent superhero film that came out early this year.

Wonka was more family and Disney than Disney has been in a long time, and people are aware of it.

If you want to avoid people who dislike what Disney pictures is producing lately, that is going to be difficult because it is how most people feel. That is why you think this site is now full of trolls. Speaking of. When this weekend hits Universal is going to have two of the top ten films in theaters as animation properties of theirs. Wild.

You take offense to the brand being damaged.

The brand is not damaged. Calm down. Wonka was fun, and I found you a Wonka board. Hurray! Maybe you’ll have fun there?

Except there are some here that will declare a Disney film is going to be awful months before a movie is released… there was one poster who said he could not wait till the next Captain America film is released so he can mock it on this forum… and that film is not due to 2025

Neither, but your little personal insult has been reported.

Was that before or after you quoted those you disagreed referring to them as trolls?

Truly, anyone who denies the things the company has admitted to with their losses being brand damage and can say the brand is not damaged without evidence to the contrary is either unaware of what is said(that is a good use of the term blind as a bat) and delusional in the sense of denial to the extreme of reality. Sorry it offends you, but the brand damage is a fact.

That seems like a case of brand damage does it not? If one trusts in it, they will have faith it could be a decent movie.

There are always extremes. Ignore that one poster or extremes then. You don't call anyone who makes educated predictions or strong inference skill based thoughts trolls or think the extremes justifies that.

I wish I could post positive things about the company. Maybe when they start doing positive things I'll be able to. But right now, I think we're in a dark time. So my posts are mostly pessimistic.

Word. No one is forced to like the product the company produces. You can have an affinity for the company without being a champion of current product and services.

And it certainly would be ignorant for anyone to call someone a troll because of it.

This is how I feel also, I used to be called a pixie duster all the time, I miss that.

I liked being a pixie duster much more than being a disgruntled Disney fan but there’s just not much to be excited about right now as a Disney fan.

Precisely! The reason I'm on this forum is because I want the company to be good again!

And if some of the biggest defenders who were called Pixie Dusters feel this way, and not nearly isolated, it is evident to see why the public is so low and sees the diminished product Disney has created/allowed to happen.

I’m still the “Disney guy” too, my coworkers and friends still come to me for advise on trips, etc.

I’ve inadvertently talked a few people into taking a Disney cruise rather than going to WDW, I always recommend adding a cruise if possible (since we’re on the west coast and already traveling across the country for WDW) and after hearing my rave reviews about DCL and then hearing my exhaustive explanations about making park reservations, Genie+, ILL, ADRs, virtual queues, etc several have just decided a cruise sounds like a more enjoyable and relaxing vacation.

Does not sound like someone who is open to opposing views

Oh you mean the individual who stated the huge award contender that has not gone wide yet has already bombed… which he did not even know existed until he posted about it cause he does not like movies…
