Seriously, they are what. A year or two removed from billion dollar movies?

I wonder how the Disney haters will spin this

I realise your post is an attempt at a joke, but hundreds of films a year benefit from the scheme. The giddy passion that you and others here feel about Disney’s “fails” is, I assure you, not shared by the UK government.

It's like some people just want to ruin things.

They are 6 months removed from a very successful Guardians film, and 2 days removed from a very strong Disney+ show with Loki Season 2. Hardly finished.

My only gripe with the current MCU is there's too many projects to keep up with and they don't connect as seamlessly as they did in the past.
2000% a valid gripe (and a major reason I haven't gotten into recent movies or even loki season 2).

It was a good show. But there's a difference between good and successful. I'm not sure how successful Loki season 2 was. Very few people here seemed to care about it. I didn't see any real buzz out in the world. I enjoyed it, but it did miss the landing a bit. Most who watched seemed to like it, but how many people actually tuned in?

The Wire is the best TV show ever made and nobody watched it.

Considerations of monetary success are interesting in an academic or abstract way, but if they’re governing your enjoyment of media, something’s wrong. On a personal level, box office really only matters to the extent that it determines if you’ll get more movies of the type you like.

It’s come up a few times, and I’m not quite sure why, but the supposed “bribe” or payment from the British government is simply a tax rebate available for any qualifying film:

“There’s really no way to spin this,” said the guy who called the standard tax rebate a “bribe.”

I had the opposite reaction as you. I thought season 2 of Loki was largely a convoluted mess, but it definitely stuck the landing! The final episode was amazing and it was a beautiful conclusion to Loki's character. Couldn't think of a better send off.

Looks like a sizable part of the general audience treated Guardians 3 as the end of the MCU road. A number of us speculated that might be the case, but I don’t know if anybody expected the drop off to be this fast and this severe.

Marvels is going to make something like a little more than half the opening weekend of Quantumania, a movie that also underperformed. So what’s that say about The Marvels?

2023 is the year the superhero fever broke so what’s Disney going to pivot to? Underperforming SW entries? General audiences can’t wait for that, I’m sure.
