I would keep realistic expectations. I wouldn’t say “great,“ but definitely doesn’t have the baggage of the last two installments. I have also been a fan from day one, and I very much enjoyed it (and will see it again.)I really hope Jurassic World is great. I remember seeing JP about 5x in theatres as a kid. I wanted to be a paleontologist. I had all the toys. Decorated my room like a raptor pen haha. Dr. Grant is still a hero lol. The sequel was ok, and I liked the Mercedes ML (which weren’t for sale yet in the real world). The other movies have been lackluster or worse.

Man of Steel unadjusted in 2013 got $670M WW, adjusted that is $929M.
Oh I know where it’s coming from…it’s still stupidWell when the head of the studio who happens to also be the writer and director for the film that studio is putting out brings it up, its news.
It’s stunning to me that people don’t know these facts.without delving too much into the political arena with this one, pop culture has always been used as a vehicle for social change. I mean the whole counterculture movement of the 60s and 70s was lead by many pop culture figures. So I don't see this use of it really any different then in generations past.
I think many skipped history class in school. Some in society (not here) assume that this "social change movement" stuff only started happening when social media became a thing. It’s stunning to me that people don’t know these facts.
Not true…many social movements have had to strategically take steps “back” to alter approach/messaging to move forward. It can work.Unfortunately "stealth mode" is a fantasy, never happens for either side especially in the modern social media lead era. It'll just cause reactionary harm the other way, and embolden those that the current pop culture movement is trying to fight. Its a constant battle of sides that has gone on for as long as the world has been turning.
Business and life will survive this culture war, just like it has every other one before it.
Taking a step back doesn’t mean a complete retreat and go into “stealth mode” as you implied though. As battles are still waged and messages are still pushed out even if not as “in your face” as previous attempts. Not true…many social movements have had to strategically take steps “back” to alter approach/messaging to move forward. It can work.
Is it gonna happen here? No. But Hollywood isn’t doing itself or anyone they claim to be advocating for any favors…more the opposite. It’s the context right now
News coming in from the weekend now has the total take of Elio so far at $96 million ($55 million in the U.S., $41 million internationally). So it will cross the $100 million mark at least, but it's still lagging far behind pretty much every would-be Disney tentpole released since Haunted Mansion in August 2023, which wrapped up at $117.5 million total. Pretty grim.
...a movie like Blazing Saddles could never be made today without people screaming about too much politics in your satire

$25M would clear Minecraft by about $10MIt’s possible…can they suck another $25 mil out of the late summer?
Either way…it’s a billion and will be the western box office champ of 2025 until avatar
Since the box office is definitely trending down for the year…I don’t think zootopia gets there$25M would clear Minecraft by about $10M
But yeah, Lilo and Stitch looks to be the only $1B film of 2025 from the western hemisphere until whatever happens with Zootopia 2 and Avatar
I tend to agree that it’ll come up short of $1B, just depends on the overall international draw like the first one hadSince the box office is definitely trending down for the year…I don’t think zootopia gets there
