SUPPOSEDLY Test Track came out of an idea that originated with Disney's America (you would board Ford motor cars and zip through a factory). Of course, I'm only repeating someone elses material.Take that with a grain of salt, please.

That sounds awsome, I think that would have been better than Test Track.

That is not entirely true. In fact the governor of Virginia at the time (Governor Allen, a Republican) went all out for it, and pushed it in the legislature. It was doomed largely by a movement that came largely from "gentlemen-horsefarmer" wealthy people in the Northern Virginia (DC Suburbs) and Charlottesville areas, many of whom were not from Virginia (some from Hollywood); some of the significant protest came from non-Virginians in Congress, who seemed worried about the (1) historical interpretation and (2) DC traffic.

There were lots of Virginians who supported the project, but weren't as attractive to the news media as the people I just discussed.

In these post 9/11 times people are coming back to the idea of loving america and embracing it for the great country it is. If disney did this now and kept everything factual and didnt change history for commercial purposes, and also gave it the disney magic , they would have a wonderful park on there hands . And there are plenty of places for a park like this not just Virginia. Pennsylvania , Ohio , the carolinas are all good spots for this. :D

What about Massachusetts??? I mean, come on...Bunker Hill...THE REDCOATS ARE COMING THE REDCOATS ARE COMING!
PLYMOUTH ROCK! THE MAYFLOWER! THE BATTLES OF LINCOLN AND CONCORD!

I hope everyone realizes that this park would have been a seasonal park and not year round, unless Disney would have done something about the snow and cold weather. It would have been cool, but there's a lot of competition in the area, King's Dominion, Busch Gardens, Six Flags America, Wet n Wild, there may be more I don't know though.

Actually the rollercoaster ride was thru an iron works factory. You would zoom thru a factory with hot metal being poured into castings etc.. I just bought an original brochure off ebay that has the entire layout of the park with all the concept pics. It was to employ about 3000 people. I still have my Disneys America: Good for virgina bumper sticker!

I think that Disney America would make a great 5th park for WDW when the time comes. Although WDW has no historical importance, it is were everything is. I dont think Disney should start to make another resort anytime soon in America. With the great amount of nationalism it would be great for the park. Another thing. Disney should not make it a history lesson. Let the park do the talking. All you have no know that it is historicly correct. As for the themes, they should do something spectacular with the civil war. It was the greatest conflict America ever had and it should be a focal point not a main street sorta area. If you've ever been to Gettysburg and seem the reanactment its unbelievable. That could be a e-ticket thing to catch by itself! Also some other areas could be Western Expansion. Industrial Revolution, WW1 and WW2, Revolutionary War, and the Modern Age.

What the heck am I talking about the lands for everyone here knows it already.

I agree with the whole "everybody's patriotic" feeling...and in my opinion...if you're not LOVING THIS COUNTRY, GET OUT!

But...does the Disney empire really want to have a park where 90% of it's contents and theming is based on WAR??? Granted, without the wars, we would NOT be where we are today...but...THIS IS A FUN PLACE...WAR IS NOT FUN!!! WDW IS A FANTASY PLACE! How can you WANT people to smile when they are on an attraction based on the CIVIL WAR??? Or WW1 or WW2???

Stick with the made up stories and leave the history lesson in Liberty Square and the American Adventure.

As long as most of the attractions are not focused on war I think it would be a great park. I think it would mostly stay with the progress of america similar to the american adventure attraction in epcot. There are hundreds of ideas for attractions that could be imagined up just from american inventions alone.

Prberk is right about virginians liking the project. All it took were a few landowners who were very prominent fixtures there to bring everything down. It would have been a huge legal battle. I believe you can build a park and not have the outside of it look ugly with tourist info centers and 10 t-shirts for a dollar type of stores. Its all in the planning. I wouldnt mind having it in Maryland. We do have some theme parks around but disney would blow them all away. Definately a place for the entire family to enjoy. Besides i need something else to do around here!

WDWFANATIC, I'm just curious, but how bad were you hit by that tornado back in May, since I see that you live in La Plata.

Well lets just say 3 out of 4 of my familys cars look like tiger woods used them for target practice. We had over 30 grand worth of damage to our home and autos. At the time I was at my girlfriends house and the tornado took every tree in her yard and 3 houses 500 ft away from us. Im only 5 mins from the center of town.

And if the park wasn't built in Florida they could build a Rockn'Rollercoster with a different band or singer. Some ex. Elivs,Beetles,or Beach Boys.

First of all I'm sorry to hear that WDWFanatic. I go to UMD-College Park and we got hit by a twister back in October, caused a lot of damage.

Second, I highly doubt Disney is about to put up a new park anytime soon, especially with their stock being below 20 and the economy looking like it will go into a recession. If anything major is going to happen soon, it will happen in Florida or California, but don't be expecting anything to be built within the next 3-5 years. This is IMO, but I strongly believe it.

I agree. A 5th park is out of the question right now. The Disney (MGM) Studios needs more attractions, Animal Kingdom is no where near being complete, and the fact that every other park is eating into everybody's attendances is reason enough. Plus, you've got IOA and Universal Studios competing for Disney's customers too.

THey have to wait to see if the world is ready to add on another day to there vacation. Before you know it, they could build a 5th park, then realize it cannibalizes business at all the other parks and brings down attendance records, and then WDW's got a heroin monkey on its back.
