All Disney All The Time

Swimming the the Rivers of America is against the rules? Man, I'm lucky I've never gotten caught. Plus, I was getting ready to start a thread discussing the best place to change into speedos. Now, I'm starting a "Disney against Swimmers" screed.
I'm gonna scuba over to Discovery Island one nite and check out the aliens that Disney is warehousing for the Air Force.

If the ladies in the family all want to get their hair and make-up done together, there are spas on the WDW property that will do that. Manicures, too. :)

I suppose that if the BBB spots sat empty that Disney would open it up to older people. I think they want to allow as many little girls in as possible. The little ones actually believe those ARE FGiTs. They really BELIEVE they are being worked on by people who can make them into princesses. They beam with pride and joy when they're done. It is the closest thing to real magic that Disney works. And they are so adorable. My niece just loved it.

Since older kids (and certainly adults) could never have that part of the experience, they want to give it to as many little ones as possible. And since there are only so many spots, too, the little ones get preference.

The spas will usually do young girls' hair, too. They just don't do the whole "pretend you're turning them into princesses" thing. I hope the people of the female persuasion in your family take advantage of that, OP...might make them all less disappointed.

You keep posting stuff like you did about me and I am going to strongly encourage you to take that swim in the R of A. I probably won't even tell you about all the snakes that I watched swimming by me one evening as I stood looking down at the reflections in the same water. Bon Voyage! :)

I don't get why it's NOT a family experience as is...just the attention goes to the youngest during this experience. My sister and I sat with my niece during her BBB appointment. I guess adults were allowed then but since there are a number of things that the height requirement excludes her from we decided to have a family moment on something geared toward her.

We had a fantastic time with the Fairy Godmother helpers and enjoyed being part of the Royal Family. To us having one thing that revolved around my niece isn;t a big deal. We could have gotten our hair and nails done elsewhere on Disney property if we wanted to but the BBB offered the perfect family experience for us.

As for the reasons why:
  1. There are other options for a family experience
  2. There are other options for everyone having hair and nails done
  3. Adults look ridiculous in the hairstyles and the makeup
  4. Younger kids should have a spot they are treated better since plenty of attractions are not open to them
  5. Adults should not be taking away from kids appointments and if you think it's always easy to get one you are sadly mistaken. (The rule was likely made because they had to turn away 5 year olds because 50 year old women couldn't allow their kid to have 30 minutes of princess time without them)

In the end, the rule is done. I support it 100% and seems like the majority of other people do as well. So anyone who doesn't like it can be disappointed but your time would be better spent finding a new way to have a family experience together.

Oh and for the OP you were incorrect on the ages, it is 12 and under so only your wife and 15 year old couldn't get it done all of the other children can. If you would rather not spend that time together as a family perhaps your wife (if she is too upset to watch her little ones get all princessed up knowing she can't be one as well) can take the 15 year old on a ride just the two of them. There! Two magical family moments in one!!!

Hey, we have plenty of other things to do as a family, don't need any help in that area. I mean, were at disney, how can you not have fun. Was just curious to see what others thought, and now, well, here we are. I love the pics, need more of them. By the way, we are not that crazy as you will see in my upcoming trip report. Maybe I will be tinkerbell?

Maybe disney should add a boutique for older guest. Where they can get certain things done. Where older guest can spend family time together.

Or the other children could actually be a little mature about it and understand that BBB is designed for little little girls and that there are other places they can have their own special moment... Not to mention, plenty of othe places to get hair done. Heck you can even hire someone to come onto the property and get a much prettier hair do.

Also, are you seriously trying to say taking the spot of a 60 year old woman at a spa is the equivalent of a 4 year old not being able to get dressed up as a princess? Ok...

And as @raven pointed out, the college program is no where near the equivalent of what we are talking about in this thread. Yes, some college kids end up working as one of the princesses but the majority don't. And I don't think many go in to the program saying "this is how I'm going to be a princess." That makes no sense considering the jobs people are well known to be assigned. Tons end up picking up garbage...

Uh...I don't remember saying anything like that.

Why is it ok to not honor dress codes at Signature restaraunts, but not be with your family getting your hair done when they cant even fill reservations? I know for sure I spend a lot of money for that, and all things, only to see wife beaters around the parks. Hey, Don't take my money, But let's see the slobs around the parks. Trying to prove a point. One, BBB is not filled at both locals, and two, dress codes are not adhered to. So why can I not spend money and look presentable at the same time?
I bet you play in the ball pit at McDonald's.
