Sounds like they increased capacity again and reopened previously sold out dates with more tickets?
Increased capacity once.

The first time they started to sell out, they added more dates, and didn't add capacity.

The new increased capacity could be that they initially low-balled capacity due to decisions made over a month ago when they didn't know for sure what COVID restrictions would still be in place, or, if they had enough staff.

They could have internally added more attractions to be open than they had initially planned.

Or, they're not keeping low capacity. We'll see the first sold-out night what it's like.

Right now... no one knows for sure.

Excellent summary!

Seriously... Please can we keep this thread free of the C word?

I've been thinking about the fact that there were 2 dates that sold out and never had more inventory added: First and last. Do you think that could mean they both had higher capacity initially (thus no need to add later) or they kept them purposely lower than the others? Or I could even imagine that the first one has a planned lower capacity and Halloween night has a planned higher capacity.

I imagine lower, with Halloween itself saving extra unadvertised space for Golden Oak, Club 33, Club Level Deluxe guests etc

I'm not sure how we could know if the other early days increased capacity or not, since they didn't sell out. It could just be the first party overall that didn't sell more. Plus Halloween was already an extra 30 bucks per person more than the other Oct dates. And it reportedly sold out and opened back up a few times on day 1. They said it was a glitch but...

So Magic Kingdom is closing at 8:30 on Boo nights in September. Does that mean if I'm a regular guest I won't have access to fireworks on those nights? If so I need to change my park reservations pronto!

At 8:30, you can stay in the park and watch the fireworks. You just won't be able to get on any rides/attractions starting at 8:30.

Or they’ll just move HEA to 8:30 pm. Sunset is at 7:45 pm (and getting earlier) by then.

So are after-hours different than parties? Parties you get a wrist-band and I think the non-party guests had to leave.
But are after-hours like extra magic where you can stay and shop/eat, just not get on rides even if you didn't buy the ticket?

Yes. DAH are different than the Party Nights.

For DAH, you're mostly paying for a much lower attendance (5-10K) so that you can ride the rides without much wait. If there's any entertainment, it's not a lot and it's just gravy. Since it is literally "after hours", there are no special full parades or fireworks (or open restaurants). You can get in early enough to see the day's regular fireworks.

For the Party Nights, you're mostly paying for exclusive entertainment: holiday themed parade, fireworks, castle show, and other entertainment (dance parties, e.g.). Party Nights usually start earlier and send the day-guests home early (they get no fireworks). The attendance is capped to about 25K. Some nights, the rides are walk-ons as most people are involved in the festivities, but, on some nights, the E-Tickets can still have a one-hour queue if everyone abandons the entertainment to ride the rides. It's a crap shoot which crowd you'll get.

Oh yes, thanks. I know Boo Bash isn't a regular party.

I'm just curious if non-after hours guests can stay the extra 3 hours, shop/eat and just not ride the rides like you can for what used to be free EMH at night? Or do they have to leave park? Not that I really care either way, just wondering.
