Missed opportunity here. The only time you could go and do all events in a week is if you're there between April 3rd and 8th. If you don't mind spending a bit more money, you could do all four parks and three of them are potentially reduced crowds from a party and then AK with 3 days for resort days or another park.

  • Party + 1 Park Ticket = $668
  • Party + 2 Park Ticket = $833
  • 4 Day Park Ticket = $598
  • 5 Day Park Ticket = $672
So for less hours in the parks, but more of an "exclusive" feel there is only a $70 difference per person for going and doing each park once or a $4 difference and you can go to the parks for 5 days no hoppers.

Indeed. Their scheduling is maddening. I would've loved to have done all three (actually, all four, bring back DAK AH). in one week. Low crowds and no sun beating down on you. Perfect.

Their crazy scheduling also means I miss an opportunity for Jollywood Nights since there's a week break in the scheduling -- the same week I'm there.

C'mon Disney, create a simple repeating schedule that we can all schedule ourselves around!

I have given up trying to apply logic to many of the decisions TWDC makes in many areas of the company.

TWDC is gonna do what TWDC is gonna do. We all must just work with what we are given. :(

Something told me (not someone as I sometimes get advance notice on things) that for our normal January trip, we should consider flying in earlier in the day on 1/24 as last year during this window the only party night was that Weds and we had a bit later flight and literally just made it to DHS as the party started. This time we are prepared for that with the earlier flight and as a bonus... get to hit up all 3 party parks before coming home early on 2/3.

Too bad they didn't throw AK into the mix as those After Hour nights were a great bonus for the family for riding and me for the rare night photography opportunities.

The only bad news about this is having to see and hear Enchantment again.

Enchantment coming back is awesome. It means, until at least mid-April 2024, we can again use: I ARE THE MAGIC!!!!
It also means we can do our best vaudeville routine from the 50th celebration:

Ring ring
"Hello?"
"Greetings. The magic is calling. Will you accept the charges?"
"No, for the 50th time, we won't accept any collect calls from this celebration. Tell them if they don't stop harassing us or we are going to file for a restraining order!"

The Magic is Calling... Just Answer the Call

Brought to you by the My Disney Experience, where we remind you for a nominal charge, you can add the Magic to the no call list for each day of your visit.

That’s the best thing I’ve read in a while. 😁👍

At some point you'll need to get over this. They have been doing these events for the past 4 years, most here agree with your sentiment, but these are a fixture now.
Ignore it and hope it goes away, or point it out and have a change be a possibility. Which seems like it will be more effective?

oh I know... I'm still mad they took good seats at Fantasmic for "dining packages" - pay more for the same food, get a better seat for a show over others. Ridiculous but people do it...of course

Do you want reality? :p

I hear ya, but hardcore Disney purists are a dying breed, and as much as I'd love full scale changes, like the addition of free extra magic hours vs. paid after hours "parties", the masses are still willing to pay for them and unfortunately, that is the reality at the moment.

The AH events don't bother me as much as some around here. As long as day guests get a nighttime spectacular and it's not every night, I think there is a place for these.

Have to appeal to the lowest common denominator, aka. the sheep (Bob loves them) while also trying to attract whales (Bob loves them as well). It's not a long-term strategy for the parks, though. Those of us with standards and a long park history are on the outside, I know that. It's also why I'm refusing to give Bob & Josh any more of my money for the time being. The only downside there is that I have to pay for DVC, the wife won't give that up.

Complaining constantly on a message board is definitely more effective.
Your statement presumes that's all anyone has done. Pointing things out here doesn't go far with the eyes employed to watch things. Pointing things out to TDO via phone calls and emails is a whole different ballgame. IdF didn't get more showings during the day earlier this year because people posted their opinions about it here. However, I am not naive enough to think that my personal endeavors to try and get certain things changed or altered will result in anything but a boilerplate response.
