Do we expect a lot of characters tonight? It’s my first time at AH in MK.
Well we didn't expect them last night but got plenty of rare characters. The difference tonight for AH may be MK has plenty of rides and an already announced extra fireworks show. Hollywood Studios is so limited with rides they may have felt they needed to add characters.

It's one of the easiest things for them to do, and guests enjoy them (especially "rare" characters). But we probably won't know who is out until the actual event, as the advertising for the event doesn't specify.

Who all showed up last night? I saw Duffy and Goofy in a snazzy outfit, but that’s all.

Logistical question - If you DON'T have a day ticket to MK, but you are attending an after hours event, could you buy a TRON lightning lane for when you'll be able to be in the park while it's open/between 7pm-10pm? Or would the app not let you do that?

I attended as well, and thought the crowd level was lower than I was expecting.
Far less in attendance then , say, one of the seasonal Halloween Parties.
The rain may have helped empty the place out too…but if you were there it was terrific for multiple rides with low to non existent wait times and for stuffing yourself full of complimentary snackies!

I felt it was well worth the ticket price for those seven hours.
Park really emptied out after 11, at least in the areas I was in.
Kinda nice being able to see TWO different fireworks a presentations as well.
A nice plus!

Two criticisms I have:

1. No characters out. I hoped there’d be some around the parks, but none. I’ll give benefit of the doubt and say rain stopped those plans.

2. I really hoped the castle would light up with Beacons of Magic afterward, but that wasn’t the case. I also don’t recall any announcement about the show. It just started.

Beacons were only for the 50th, of course MK could re-work it.

DE had the normal 10 & 5 Min Warnings.

Not empty. About 5000 I’d guess. Still walk ons everywhere and great viewing for Enchantment.

This is what Main Street looked like last night for Enchantment...

Wish the Magic Kingdom After Hours would just offer other than just Mickey and the PFTH Princesses, and honestly can it NOT be the same four guests can meet anytime, wished they had the nerves to add Minnie, Donald, Goofy, and Pluto scattered throughout the park to call it a night(even if they are very common for anyone)

And like I said in a previous thread, that how come they have seriously not yet made the call for the permanent retirement of Elena at the parks, I mean seriously her show ended in August 2020 and Disney has done nothing to call it official, while they phased out another DJR/Gerber universe princess in Sofia nearly five years ago, which looking back from the entertainment department will be considered as a major misstep made by the company as they basically erased Sofia for good only to make room for Nancy who made sense when the show was airing(but not anymore), but considering that Elena has yet to be phased out, feels like Disney doesn't know what is relevant on TV nowadays(even though it's on Disney Plus, despite not being as popular), as Elena has no presence on any of the Disney networks right now as no reruns are scheduled, there's legitimacy little to zero merchandise of the show and the character sold in either the parks or stores that aren't thrift stores(last time I went they only had her dress and tiara), knowing that Disney has moved on from this show and has little future plans for this character, who made sense to be at the Hall when her show was relevant, had a good amount of merchandise, and airing new episodes, but when the Hall reopened in October 2021, it made no sense for Elena to be there other than "obvious reasons not related to the show itself", wished they had the nerves to bring Aurora or Snow White back to the Hall at that time despite being seen at Epcot(and SW is also seen on Main Street in the daytime), as Disney has now focused on other Latina representation that are movies and can last in the long term like Coco and Encanto.
Uhhh....

1. As long as guests flock to Elena and get in line to meet with her, she's popular enough to keep as a M&G.
2. Her show is available on Disney+ on demand, all three seasons.
3. If Elena wasn't clicking with park guests or wasn't getting the streaming views, then, I'm sure, Disney would retire her from the parks. Do you have Disney's data on engagement with Elena?
4. If we use your criterion that a M&G in the park has to have an active show on TV, then most of the M&Gs would be kicked out of the parks. There's currently no shows of the other princesses on TV, so, let's kick them all out!
5. Do you think a park has to have a quota on representation? There's a whole bunch of European characters breaking their quota. There's plenty of room for Coco and Encanto and Elena (pssst, neither Coco nor Encanto has a princess).
6. You're forgetting that Disney Princesses (TM) is a brand. And the brand is bolstered by all its members, and each member is bolstered by being part of the brand. Elena has a role to play within that brand, like all the other princesses.

And who knows, maybe her time is up and she'll be out of the parks starting tomorrow. But Disney is data driven. And if Elena is still in the parks, she's doing her job for the company. If the interest wasn't there, Disney would replace her in a heartbeat.
