Yes, DIS has been flat for a long time. During that time, it jumped to ridiculous levels because of the start of streaming and it plunged to ridiculous levels because streaming was losing too much under Chapek.

So, DIS has not been a good long-term stock (apart from dividends).

But each dip isn't doom. Unless one keeps forgetting each rise.

During this time, it was predicted to crater due to ESPN. But ESPN keeps profiting.

Compared to other Entertainment business, DIS has been comparatively strong excepting Netflix's recent charge.

The first stock decision I personally made was buying DIS when it was low during Covid and then selling once it recovered.

Disney beat Wall Street expectations.

Wall Street punishes Disney for doing better than they thought... I guess.

Because Disney downplays all its numbers and Wall Street ain’t buying it…

Underpromise/overdeliver

They struggle when no one else does.

But I’m sure the SEC will come in and arrest everyone soon 🙄

…god…some days

Are they being mean to poor Bob? 😭

I don't think there are any boosters gloating anywhere unless you're calling people who point out places where Disney is doing well to the doomer crowd.

The difference was they were better at hiding it due to the perks they gave to guests. Now they have taken away almost all the perks and whatever perks left you get the privilege to pay for them.

You're just getting old. It's what happens. You remember the good ole days differently.

So let's look at what was said.

D+ another meager quarterly profit while loosing subscribers, but it is completely unrelated to 10% price hike at the beginning of the quarter.

Studios made money only because of 3 billion+ dollar movies. Ignore the other 4 $200M+ productions that bombed.

Linear TV is great again! Just ignore the abnormality created by a presidential election.

Parks are wonderful! LL is wonderful! Guest Spending is wonderful! BTW domestic growth, which is the tentpole for the segment, has cratered. Nothing is going to change for the next several quarters because there ain't nothing coming. Also they're probably going to raise prices some more.

The overall profit was solid...there are storm warnings coming. The movie division was very strong. We have the Captain American movie coming and comments on social media are not positive, this could end up being a major disappointment. Let us not forget the Snow White movie which they have already delayed. Look for this to be a short release to theaters so they can have major write offs later this year. For the money machine to continue, they need some of their other releases to hit home runs. We shall see.

Captain is probably going to be mid but the rest of the companies 2025 slate is strong. Those that I bolded are going to be north of $500M most likely and probably 3 of them are $1B.

Though Tron could (probably) miss that mark and maybe even Captain America if the reviews are bad.
  1. Captain America
  2. Snow White
  3. Thunderbolts
  4. Lilo and Stitch
  5. Elio
  6. F4
  7. Freaker Friday
  8. Tron
  9. Zootopia 2
  10. Avatar

So I guess you didn't read anything. Maybe we can take this time to realize you can resize images and you don't need to make them the size of the whole screen.

You really think Thunderbolts is going to be that successful? I think it would have to be really good to get there. Marvel doesn't automatically win anymore. If the movie isn't good, it's not going to be successful.

Numbers have never stopped either party.

It’s all in the “interpretation” 🤓

I don't think there are any boosters gloating anywhere unless you're calling people who point out places where Disney is doing well to the doomer crowd.

At first glance…the discussion seems pretty fair…which is refreshing

Only one person so far has inhaled the dust straight out of Bob’s tailpipe and spit in back out…

I do think you might be taking the “over” on your movie optimism…but we’ll see

You're just getting old. It's what happens.
I bet most of us think this…like every day

…well now it went south

No…not at all…

Nobody knows them…and nobody wants to know them…

That one is somewhere in eternals/marvels land…maybe it will form the third leg of the Bermuda Triangle?

Honestly, looking at that list, I'm seeing a whole lot of meh.
  1. Captain America - probably meh
  2. Snow White - this will be a nonentity
  3. Thunderbolts - meh
  4. Lilo and Stitch - probably will be the last successful sequel, but more $$ from the plushes. I think the sequel bubble has burst after this.
  5. Elio - MEH
  6. F4 - This one I hope is good.
  7. Freakier Friday - just because people asked for this on social media doesn't mean it's a good idea; in fact, it's not.
  8. Tron - Jared Leto is too freaky to be an appealing draw. This franchise is dead.
  9. Zootopia 2 - probably will be moderately successful, but it won't be good. Like Moana 2.
  10. Avatar - This one will prove this franchise is mortal, and it will be the least successful of the series to this point.

Seems pretty mixed bag…numbers are not “encouraging” overall…I’m shocked they reported them as they did? The landscape here is record spending/profits for damn near every two bit peddling company on the market.

Not so much with the Walt Iger Company…

The key alarm numbers is another posted parks drop…as in the pool continues to drain…which means they’ll tear a bigger hole in the liner

And the ad revenue drop was notable. What’s the deal with that?

The next dominoes will be the contract extension and talk of “cuts to address changing economic conditions”
