DINOSAUR..... what is it

Been advised not to take my 5yo son on DINOSAUR. He's never really been on a real ride before. He is 48 inches in his tennis shoes.

What is the ride? Think I'm having a mental block here:brick::brick::brick::brick::brick:. I've been trying to research the rides/parks to make a nice easy trip. What is DINOSAUR?

Its a ride that gets a lot of negativity, and some is rightly so as it is in need of some serious care but i find it to be great fun and love the movement of the ride vehicle

A dark ride where you travel back in time to ostensibly rescue a dinosaur and bring him back to the present.

It's bumpy, very dark, fast, and probably a bit too intense for a 5 year old, even if he likes dinosaurs.

My 5 year old twins rode it last year and like it! It is dark, loud and rough but they knew it was a story. They have talked about riding it again this year.

We sort of "made" our oldest son ride at 6 yrs old. He was terrified. He is now 8 and still chooses not to ride it.

It is dark, loud and there are some suprises that can scare kids. (sometimes they even catch me off guard). Hope that helps.

My son rode this for the first time when he was six and was absolutely terrified. It is extremely bouncy and jarring. I think it is the loudest ride we have ever been on. It was actually a little funny when we got off the ride because the picture taken on the ride shows my son holding my arm over his face because apparently his hands covering his eyes wasn't enough. We actually ended up spending quite a bit of money in the gift shop at the end of the ride because he was "convinced" that several toys were the only things to cure his traumatization :ROFLOL:

My sister-in-law is currently at WDW. She took her oldest daughter, who is five, on Dinosaur without ever having gone on it before herself. It was a BIG mistake, or as she put it in her words, "I am a horrible mother."

I enjoy the ride, but I would not take a 5 year old on it.

My sixteen year old hates it, she usually sits out when we ride. My other kids will usually go with us even though it's none of their favorites. This time we asked the oldest nicely to go with us all together, so she did, but she had her eyes closed the whole time!

DINOSAUR is probably the only ride @ Disney World too intense for most kids under 10-12 years of age. It'll leave a bad impression on them for sure, but after that age I think they'll come to love it. I know if I was 8 and went on that I'd be freaked out as the whole queue leading up to it isn't scary at all until you get on the ride and it's black and big $#_$# dinosaurs start roaring at your face 2 feet away with teeth the size of your kids skull, so yea, might scare'em a bit. Oh, it's also the only ride I've seen kids start crying like crazy afterwards, suckers.

Of course only you know your kids best, nothing is wrong with saying to your kid(s) "look, mommy (or daddy) are going to go look at the creepy dinosaurs and if they are too scary we'll see them next time" and go hop on it real quick in the single rider line (I believe they have it for this ride, can't remember for sure).

You forgot extremely loud. It might be a bit much for 5.

It is really something that you are going to have to decide on based on the child. It is REALLY Loud and violent. My 8 year old loved it, but he didn't like TOT because it was scary. So like I said it depends on the kid. If you think they can handle it then I would be sure to let them know ahead of time what to expect: loud Noise, Rough ride, Mostly dark with flashes of light.

They offer childswap on this ride. Just go throught the entire queue and at the loading zone let them know and one parent can ride and check out the ride and the other can wait with the child. One the first parent finishes the ride the swap positions and the second parent can now ride. This way you both can see what it is all about and then discuss it with your child.
