Dinosaur conversion to Indiana Jones

Sure a water ride would be cool at the studios but not for Indy IMO. WDW simply must have an Indy EMV like at DL and TDS. Its just so incredible.

I dont see Dinosaur going anywhere anytime soon. Disney loves the Dinosaur animatronics way too much to get rid of it. That plus it being the main piece of Dino land, no way would it change.

I think like everyone else though, it would be a good add to DHS and if/when WDW ever does a Indy ride, i'll be sure to try it out.

While the ride path is more or less exactly the same (I've been told that there is at least one minor difference), the surrounding show building is very different. For one, there's no pit in the area that is equivalent to the giant, laser beam-shooting Mara statue.

Thank you. I always get so confused when people say that the Dinosaur and Indy rides are exactly the same ride track and building. For the life of me I could never figure out where the giant pit with the bridge over it was in Dinosaur.

This section of Indy's suspended track doesn't seem to exist in Dinosaur...

While I'm sure the two ride tracks are very close, there appear to be at least a few very noticeable differences to the structures and spaces around the track. That alone would seem to make it difficult to build a proper Indy ride, aside from the fact that an Indy ride at WDW would be managed by TDO and they wouldn't ever close the thing for a rehab and would not maintain the gazillion special effects it needs to operate properly.

I think the track is still there, it's just not suspended in a large set piece like that. Martin would probably be able to pin-point where exactly (Ive never ridden Indy, so I have no idea where in the ride that comes)

Hi, I'm a long-time lurker, 1st time poster.

I don't recall ever seeing a thread about this so here goes. I have read that the Dinosaur attraction in DAK is nut for nut, bolt for bolt, exactly the same as the Indiana Jones ride in Disneyland.

Does anyone know if TDO has ever considered making over Dinosaur to Indy? I think it would be vastly more popular!! Just my thoughts and please share yours.

You're oversimplying. It isn't 'nut for nut' the same. Only the track is. Everything else is different.

As far as the 'suspended track' section, well, its just a straight piece of track. Whether or not it has a 'pit' beneath it doesn't effect the layout.

Also: I hate to say this, but lets fix the Yeti before we re-theme an entire section of the park to convert Dinosaur to Indy. You couldn't just switch the ride, you have to do something with Dinorama too. This is coming from someone who thinks Dinosaur is the worst 'thrill' ride to ever exist.

Retheming Dinoland would be a far better use of funds than fixing the Yeti, IMO. The Yeti is a (albeit signature) ride element, and its function isn't really impacting guest behavior. Making Dinoland a compelling place for guests to spend time and money would improve DAK immensely.

Fixing the Yeti? Only marginally so.

Dinoland is hardly hurting. As someone said, the general public LOVES dinosaurs.

Dinosaur would not be converted into a Indy ride no way. I think Dinosaur in full working condition is cool.

However, I could see an Indy ride and revised show come out if they kept the movie series going with a new blockbuster actor. Very much Like the James Bond movie series. But, if no new Hit Indy movie comes out it would probably go away.

This one has more credibility than people are saying. They have a like for like system so why not convert Dinosaur into what is probably one of the best Disney rides at any Park? Its a no brainer really.

I agree in the sense that someone clearly hasn't given the matter much thought...

Whilst the dressing is obviously different, Dinosaur is Identical to Indy save for a very small curve in an otherwise straight track. I`ve posted plans somewhere in the past.

Edit. Told you I had :D

Because Indy would not fit in Dinoland - neither Forbidden Eye or Crystal Skull - and because it would cost a small fortune.

Dinosaur would be amazing if everything worked as designed.

He was talking about the theme. :brick:

well they should say that then

Anyhows, I dont see the theme as a big deal. Dinosaur is the biggest attraction there, if it was re-themed I'd just re-theme the whole land to fit. Lets be honest here, the boneyard playground can be made to fit, Primeval whirl is an embarresingly bad cheap and nasty carnival ride (presumably they ran out of their budget at this point) could be rethemed etc etc.

Its not beyond the wit of man is it?

You can't retheme a roadside carnival to be a jungle. You'd have to tear it down and rebuild.

If they want to build an Indy ride, I'm all for it. But lets build it somewhere else, where it fits. DHS, Adventureland, a new area of DAK.

Dinosaur sucks, sure. As I said before, I hate it. But just simply converting it to Indy doesn't make sense.

No more than the concept of it not fitting at AK is beyond yours......
