Dinosaur conversion to Indiana Jones

HA! Entertaining, yet somewhat sad, thread here!

To the original question, I don't see any real reason for Disney to even consider re-themeing the Dinosaur ride in Animal Kingdom (which I really enjoy for the record), but I would love to see an Indy ride in Hollywood Studios.

Like many have suggested already, it would be great to look at replacing the stunt show with an e-ticket Indy ride.

Whilst the dressing is obviously different, Dinosaur is Identical to Indy save for a very small curve in an otherwise straight track. I`ve posted plans somewhere in the past.

Edit. Told you I had :D

Thank you! Those are always fun to look at. They do look identical, but interesting how the theme makes them so wildly different.

I agree with you that Dinosaur could be so much better if they'd just maintain what they have in the ride, if not update and plus it a bit. Indy at Disneyland has had two closure-rehabs in the last year or so that installed new animatronics and freshened up the queue and effects, and it looks and rides great 15 years after it opened.

But I can't remember the last time anyone mentioned a rehab for Dinosaur, and it's painfully obvious at that.

My family has been on both rides Indy in DL AND Dino in AK.
Both are very cool - we prefere the Indy theme but that theme does not fit like the dino theme does in AK

Isn't there an Indy rollercoaster at Disneyland Paris? If I'm correct it seemed like a pretty basic ride. If you added a little to it and put that in one of the other lands in DAK I think it would make that park that much better. DAK needs something, and I need more Indy..perfect fit:)
It is an off the shelf coaster model that is not all that great. No thanks.

You mean lucas's second turn at making money on that flick, but in threeedeee?
And it'll probably make some good money. The real genius is that he says they will be released one a year so long as their is an audience to see them, meaning if you want to see the originals you better go buy a ticket to prequels.

Yikes. I'd almost consider buying tickets for Episodes I and II and then not actually seeing the films if he applies that logic. I just want to see the battles of Hoth and Endor in oh-so-shiny 3-D.

Indy is often in a setting similar to DAK (a jungle) when out adventuring. Maybe it could be the start of a refurb, "plusing" or removal of Dinoland U.S.A.? Maybe it would be nice to have the ride based on a successful franchise?

"removal of Dinoland U.S.A." I.... I... I can't even comprehend this. Dinosaur is my favorite attraction at WDW! The whole area holds such great memories for me with my family. My ultimate wish is for them to do even more with dinoland. Anywhere there are dinosaurs, there is potential :) I hope dinoland stays in DAK for a really really long time.

Now I agree with others here, replacing the Indy stunt show at DHS is a wonderful idea. They need something to freshen up that area.

ETA: Oh and since I love the Dinosaur attraction so much, you could imagine my excitement when I went to DL this past summer and got to ride Indy.... but honestly, I have to say I was disappointed. When we got off the ride both me and my dad said Dinosaur is much better. But each to his own.

Curious, what isn't working in Dinosaur?
This excellent video provides a good look at what has been lost over the years at Dinosaur: http://www.martinsvids.net/?p=642

Edit: By the way, a little detail I found out during a track walk at Dinosaur--there is a Carnotauraus tail disappearing into the bushes on the left side of the ride vehicle as it passes by the Velociraptor. Nearly (if not totally) impossible to see under show conditions, but it's there. In theory, the computer calling out the Velociraptor identification is what attracts the Carnotaur's attention.

You are the only person I have ever heard say this! I'm shocked!

I highly doubt we will ever see Dinoland go bye bye. With Animal Kingdom in the state it's in, it needs every attraction and land it has to survive.

Are we referring to the ENTIRE Dinosaur land at Animal Kingdom when we're talking hate? Or just the carnival part. I like the concept of a dino land, and the Dinosaur-Indy ride is pretty cool IMO (never saw the original effects, though there's too many dark empty parts, still fun). I just hate the Dino-rama carnival. It's tacky and ugly to me, and sticks out like a sore thumb. I'd love for the entire thing to be demolished and for them to begin construction on a really well themed and thought out dark ride for kids. Animal Kingdom needs more well-themed kiddy rides. Sure dino-rama has a lot of little kiddie rides, but it needs some GOOD little kiddy rides. Like in the same caliber of all the great dark rides at Magic Kingdom (a new next gen ride like Little Mermaid would be cool there).

This is incentive for me NOT to go. I'm sick of Lucas m__________g up the originals. I say, release the theatrical cuts of the originals exactly as we fell in love with them and be done with it.

No more gimmicks! The original films don't need them.

(Any defenders of the prequels need to watch this video series and get back to me:

Warning: This is not remotely suitable for work or the easily offended. But it is the most on-target and entertaining critique of the prequels you will ever see. It explains very clearly why the prequels don't work - at all.)
