Multiple trips over the past year I've seen the Carnotaurus head on a stick. It's a backup for when the first one isn't working.

Did it look like this?

The amount of people I have seen complaining today that after they've spent ____ amount of money, they're outraged and this ruining they're vacation. Do people really think that Disney uses pixie dust and can refurb attractions overnight? I know it's not fun to have your favorite attraction closed, but the rides have to be refurbed from time to time or they'll just break.

I've got no complaint. It needs love. It's better to go down and come back new then to sit and suffer ( I can count all the effects that were out at DHS).

It's just weird to see it go down during peak summer when the crowds are highest, especially in a park with few attractions to begin with. I'm guessing they're looking to off set it with Rivers of Light and the new shows?

The most I can think of is that this refurb is a standard R&R for the ride. And I can only hope some touch up work to some AA's cause the carnotaurus needs some love.

As someone who will be there during that time, I'm not complaining....just pointing out the same as what @Sketch105 is saying.

Park with recently extended hours takes one of its biggest attractions off line during a peak season. Add to that a similar E-ticket (BTMRR) taken off line at basically the same time, makes me scratch my head.

That said, the fact that it just showed up on the schedule now, makes me wonder if something broke or happened that made the refurb a 'must do immediately' type of thing.

Maybe the they will return the ride to it's initial state and re-open it as Animal Kingdoms newest thrill ride..."Countdown to Extinction"!!

Wish they'd demolish that whole Chester and Hester's area while the refurb is going on. That place is an abomination.
Not yet. Still needed for capacity now that the park's staying open in the evenings and Avatar's a year away. I'm sure they'll bring it down after Avatarland opens.

I know on other sites and here there have been rumors already about what would/will replace it. I just don't think this happens for a while after avatarland. Hopefully i'm wrong

I can't remember...but wasn't Dinosaur a bomb as well? Serious question.
It actually did fairly decent at the box office, but it's just that nobody remembers it because it came out the same summer as the superior Walking with Dinosaurs miniseries.
At any rate, the ride was co-developed with the movie, hence the dinosaur selection and the use of footage from the movie in the pre-show even before the ride's rename. Countdown to Extinction was even a working title for the movie.
