It was. Height requirement dropped as a result.

Wish they would crank it back up....i honestly dont find it very thrilling.....TOT is thrilling dimosaur is meh. Again just an opinion. I rode it during CTX era but was young so i cant even remeber to compare. And when i saw the orginal ride plans before park changed i face palmed....

I wonder (pure speculation) if the Avatar expansion could open up the door to amping the intensity back up, since there will be at least one more all ages ride in the park.

To what end? Why limit your ridership? They already have absurd Primeval Whirl with its crazy-high 48" height requirement.

Flight of Passage will have a requirement. The park needs more rides that more people can go on.

The craziness of dinosaur didn't add to the thrill in my opinion. Just a more bumpy, nauseous inducing ride. As others have said, the park needs as many options as possible so lowering the height limit as a result is a good thing.

Is there no way to increase the intensity without increasing the height requirement? I wouldn't arbitrarily raise it, but surely they can make it more like the way it was intended to be in the first place without drastically affecting the height requirement.

To that end, though, what good does it do to worsen a ride that is not designed for children to ride in the first place? I certainly agree that there aren't nearly enough rides with a small or no height requirement (AK and DHS are literally tied with two apiece), but who benefits from it at this point? I would imagine Disney would want Dinosaur to continue to be a strong draw when Pandora opens, and the intensity of the experience is a major draw for those who enjoy(ed) it. Why not make it better?

There are people with differing degrees of thrills they are able to tolerate. I see the need to have a few faster attractions and can enjoy those, but i'd rather they focus on making a ride that most if not all people can enjoy. Focus on the show scenes and thrills become rather unimportant.

I can deal with Dinosaur, Everest, the Harry Potter rides or Mummy just fine. I can do above those as well, but i'm not really interested anyways. I do have issues tolerating steep drops such as Tower of Terror, and they actually did increase the intensity of that since it opened due to the randomized drop sequences.

My mom doesn't tolerate anything more intense than Splash Mountain and Big Thunder. There's very little for her to enjoy at Animal Kingdom, even our last ride on the Safari (she usually likes it) was far more janky than normal and turned her off of riding it for a while (either a bad driver, vehicle shocks or something else). She tried Dinosaur once and didn't care to go again (darkness makes thrills worse for her), Everest was too much for her. Kali would be fine, but some of us hate walking around in soaked clothes for the rest of the day. The new Avatar Boat Ride will at least be fine, hopefully it's good.

In the case of Dinosaur, I could tolerate a higher thrill level. But I don't think it's needed as much as improvements to the show scenes. I'm guessing it's original conceptual form before they decided to reduce the track length (which was supposed to have scenes that went outside), had some even slower parts.

In my opinion, they completely blew it with Kali. I think that ride would be insanely popular if people only got spritzed instead of miserably soaked. There's just no getting comfortable after that ride without a hair dryer and a complete change of clothes. It's just not worth the hassle (YMMV).

I don't think intensity has any impact on how enjoyable Dinosaur is and I don't think people go to WDW expecting intense rides (see Mission:SPACE). Any upgrade to Dinosaur should focus on improving showsets and the obnoxiously loud (and just plain obnoxious) audio.

This. Splash Mountain is fine because you get wet but only enough that you can dry off quickly just by walking around. Kali is just too much. Your wet down to your socks and underwear which is going to require a complete change of clothes. Who wants to do that? It's too big of a hassle.

Just making sure, but you are aware the whole point of Kali is to get the riders wet. Besides it's nothing compared to Popeye and Blutos over at Universal. You're beyond Kali soaked within the first 20 seconds.

I am not sure how true this is, but I was under the impression that the pterodactyl and other series of flying dinosaurs that all moved were shut down by OSHA. Like I said not sure if its true or why that would be the case though..
That I believe is the case.

But they could work again with a secondary restraint system. Hardly rocket science. It just needs some money, designing and installing.

What they did is they made a soak machine that also fails to deliver on a ride length standpoint. With Popeye and Bluto's you also get soaked, but it's a much better ride as well.

Kali needs to be twice as long.

I was always thought Kali was only a soak machine for part of the raft. Given how short it is, I'm not sure how often I've seen a fully soaked raft, as opposed to P+B's where everyone gets it at least once, if not multiple times.

One trip (I want to say Sept 2014), my wife and I had just had Yak & Yeti, and I think we were going back toward the jungle trek, when we saw a big group of people who had just ridden Kali. In one family, the mom was wringing out clothes while walking next to a 10-12 year old boy just walking around in his underwear. It was odd to say the least.

You can walk off Kali somewhat dry, but it's arbitrary. Popeye and Bluto's doesn't discriminate, everyone gets soaked.

I don't know how possible it is to extend a flume, but in a perfect world for "plussing" DAK I'd love to see them extend the flume (possibly by going straight after the lift hill and then reconnecting after a second lift hill). If they are actually enhancing Dinosaur as well they're positioning the other attractions in the park to help with capacity/demand needs when Avatar opens.

Of course the real need is fixing the yeti, but I'm not holding my breath.
