I agree. Honestly no body even cares about the dinosaur movie anymore so what's even the point of catering to this young demographic? Also avatar is getting a fairly tame boat ride for all ages so they should just change it back already!
By that logic we should tear out Splash Mountain.

Also, the thing with Dinosaur/CTX is that it's a tie-in attraction that's fairly independent from its source material. The connections are primarily based on species selection, the use of the KT meteor impact and that movie clip in the preshow, with the retool's biggest change being to literally put the idea that we're rescuing Aladar front and center outside the ride with that sculpture.

Okay you're right but I'm not saying tear it down I'm saying don't keep the ride toned down for the little ones. If splash mountain didn't have the Song of the South theme when it opened and the ride had a bigger drop but then Disney decided to add Song of the South and subtract drop size there would be a problem.

Let's not forget that the EMVs were toned down to bring the height restriction from 48' to 40' in an attempt to make it more accessible and bring it in-line with the demographics of the film. Most of the "it's too dark and nothing happens" complaints stem from the lack of thrill that accompanies the darkest portions of the ride.

That's the first I've heard of this.
Are you certain A) that the ride profiles were changed at the same time as the name change and
B) that the motivation to lower the height restrictions didn't have more to do with the fact that AKL had so very little for riders of ANY height to do?

The park still is underbuilt, but it was absurdly underbuilt before both sections of Asia were finished.

I also wonder if the tamer ride profiles (if they're real) were designed to decrease maintenance requirements, since Disney practically never closes this thing.

A good sign, I'd say. Hopefully they fix/restore everything and the attraction is back to what it was on opening day.

I have to admit, rode it earlier this month, and it already looks better than it has in a long time. So I'm pretty hopeful for this refurb, especially compared to my initial concern after riding it last year and learning it would only be down for the original 3ish weeks.

Could the refurbishment include demolition and replacement with a good ride? Possibly Indian Jones and repurposing the ride vehicles?

This used to be one of my favorite rides. I would drive from UCF to AK after my classes some days, just to ride CTX (before the name change). In fact, during my CM days I befriended someone from Dinosaur (they were picking up hours at the attraction where I worked), and was able to walk the track with the worklights on.

I was really struck by just how large and imposing the AA's were, especially from the ground. You don't realize just how high up the ride vehicles are when you're on the ride. But I was also disappointed at how large chunks of the ride track were just black nothing. There were big pieces of that dark military netting stapled to the walls, everywhere. There were also fake plants stapled to the wall every now and again, and a potted plants throughout. It just seemed like such a waste in comparison to the amazing IJA sets. They told us that they couldn't install the styracosaurus properly at first because she was too big for her spot, so they cut off her tail and installed it on the opposite side of the ride track. You'd never see it or even think to look in that direction, but it's actually there. A bunch of potted plants and a dinosaur's tail.

At any rate, I hope this rehab restores at least some of that former CTX glory. I was such a big fan back then! The last time I rode Dinosaur I got the Carnotaurus head on a stick, so I was displeased at the state it was in.

Question, though : Why did Seeker's dialogue change from "Four wheel drive, kick it!" to "Four wheel drive, move it!"?
