I was wondering if some of you who have ridden Dinosaur and have seen It's Tough To Be a Bug can give me your opinion on whether you thought the ride/show was worth it. I have never been on either and don't know that much about them except from what I have seen on the planning videos. I have been to AK before but want to try new things this upcoming trip and wonder if these two are worth the trip to the park. Is Dinosaur something to be scared about? Is it the same type of scare-factor as TOT (fear/suspense)?

Thanks

Dinosaur is more like a fantasyland dark ride gone crazy. The ride vehicle jerks and jostles you. And instead of cute little characters, it's big, loud dinosaurs. It's more of a thrill because you can't see where you're going, it's loud, fast, and sensory overload. It's a good ride.

Tough to be a bug is great. Can be a little intense for young children who may be afraid of bugs, but it's very good. Better 3D effects than Muppets and Honey I Shrunk. But not as cool as PhilharMagic. Second best of the 3D shows in my opinion.

It's Tough to Be a Bug IMHO was the best 3D movie before Philharmagic. it's so cute! however...some people I know who don't like bugs have a little bit of a hard time with it....cause lets face it, Disney uses other ways to get to you during their 3D movies!! :animwink:

I've only ridden Dinosaur once (cause it's usally broken down when I go) but from what i can remember it was fun. Yes, it's along the same lines as ToT with the fear and suspense thing but it's a creative ride. And of course they take your picture at the scariest spot!

I love Dinosaur just because of the feeling of actually being there. It does a good job of suspending reality and the way the ride bumps you around makes you feel like you are really off roading. Its also very scary since you cant tell where you are going and there are screaming Dinosaurs all around you.

As for Its Tough to be a Bug, it is also enjoyable. 2 weeks ago when I went there were alot of crying children since it can be a little frightning. Make sure you sit towards the middle! I sat in the last chair and it wasnt very good since the 3D didnt match up very well.

Dinosaur is a really bumpy jerky ride with big hot and mean looking dino's near the end. The closer you get to the end of the ride the more intense it gets. We took our kids on it (then 8 and 10 ) and both were really shook up about it and afraid to go on other rides. They are big chickens though......... The photo near the end of the ride showed all of us except my husband with our heads crouching under the seat. (wish I would have bought it because it is funny now in retrospect). I think it's rather extreme, but it's just jerky and not a spinning ride, so at least no motion sickness for me.

Tough to be a bug is neat, funny, a good time for all.

Every thing that everyone else has said is pretty much true...Tough to be a bug great 3D movie...Dinosaur great thrill ride. I have been on it dozens of times and the final scene still scares the beegebuzz out of me.

Let me start this out by saying that I Am a 40 year old. I havent ever been inside of ITTBAB. I will most likely never go on that attraction. Form what I understand it is cute but me and the insect community arent really very fond of each other so it is in everyone's best interest for me to NOT go see this one!!
I Have been on Disnsaur, and I am not fond of things popping out at me from the dark. Especially Dinos that are supposed to want to have you for a snack. I do avoid this one as well but not as badly as ITTBAB.
Both attractions are very well done from what I understand so go ahead and enjoy!!! Belle

Dinosaur, as far as I'm concerned, may be the only reason to go to AK. Ride premise is very cool. Queue/Preshow/Ride immersion is classic Disney. All-star cast. Classic lines "We're not gonna make it! We're not gonna make it!". A+ ride.

It's Tough to Be a Bug is cute, but just like the other 3D movies. I don't go if I don't have a fastpast or if the line is long.

Yes, Dinosaur is definately a not-to-be-missed attraction, and worth a visit to AK, especially becasue you'll also be able to see ITTBAB for the first time while in the park, and it's a fun show, (not to mention taking your time to revel at how good Everest is looking.) However, so as not to dissapoint you, Dinosaur is not frightening in the "suspense" type of way like ToT and the former Alien Encounter. The scenery is a bit lacking, too, so it's not as good for repeat rides as others like ToT, at least in my experience. All around, though, if you love themeing, storytelling, and thrills, you will love Dinosaur. It's top-notch in all of those categories. Have fun!

Dinosaur is awsome. Great theming, great story, and great AAs. ITTBAB is also really fun. Might scare the little ones, but it is very entertaining.

Dinosaur is a great ride. Its a clone or was cloned (Which came first?) in DL as the Indiana Jones ride. I like Indy a lot better but its worth the lines to ride. It's Tough To Be A Bug is a fun little show but its definitely interactive. The first time I went a lady in the show got sick from the stinkbug and the last time I went to the DCA version my father in law's back was hurting him pretty bad from the Hornets. IMO do both, you won't be sorry. :D

These two rides are awesome. They are "two must" rides if you are in the animal kingdom. Neither are that scary, but you will let out a scream or two while riding them.

I am a huge scaredy cat when it comes to rides like Dinosaur, but I love going on this ride because it is very well themed and the dinosaurs scare you in a fun kind of way. I find that most of Disney's rides are too loud and so I always bring ear plugs to dull the noise a bit, and this cuts the "fear factor" by making the ride less intense.

I absolutely hate insects, but I will go on ITTBAB becuase its so cute; however, when I go, I always sit foward with my legs up on the seat so that I don't feel the 4D effects Disney likes to throw in.

All in all, I would say these are the two best rides at AK and cannot be missed.

I think it is fair to compare the fear element in Tower of Terror to Dinosaur. Obviously, they are apples and oranges, but they have darkness, strobe lights and sudden moves in common. As far as tough to be a bug, I agree with Nicholas who rated it as the second best 4D movie at WDW.

If you are asking whether these two attractions are, by themselves, worth the price of admission - that is a personal value determination, but I'll put it this way. If I am going to Animal Kingdom, they are "must do." However, Animal Kingdom is my fourth favorite of the parks and on my last trip I skipped it in favor of a day off-property.

So lets see....I have personally been on RnRC and TOT with you but you are scared of ITTBAB.....we need to talk girl friend

i DISAGREE

I am sorry if i offend anyone but i hate ITTBAB. I am also severely scared of most bugs. It was loud in your face action but comical. I guess the stink and sting got me and the huge spider(im afraid of 3 cm ones). If you dont like bugs or sdden affects ITTBAB is not for you.:hurl: Excercize a little caution with it. Ironicley i luv DINOSAUR. Just my opinion

First of all, thanks to all for the info. Super informative :)

Now I have a concern though. People are talking about hornet stings in ITTBAB! What is this? Does something comes out of the chair and jab you in the back? My boyfriend has a scar on his lower back from back surgery years ago. Is this going to hurt him? If so, I may have to go on this one solo. I guess I just thought it was a 3D movie. Now I know I'll be nervous going in there :lookaroun

Before I rode ITTBAB, I heard a family talking about the sting on one of the buses back to the resorts. I'm very scared of being stung by things so I put a backpack on my back the first time, and the second, I sat in my dad's wheelchair (he was in a seat). Its simply just air pressure hitting your back, but if you put something behind you, you can't feel a thing.

As for ITTBAB and Dinosaur, I think their worth it. And even if your scared (like I was) its still totally fun.

I love both Dinosaur and Tough To Be A Bug. First off, I have to say that Animal Kingdom is great. I had not been to either Animal Kingdom or Disney Studios prior to last year. As far as Disney magic is concerned, I was much more impressed with Animal Kingdom than Disney Studios. Although, at this point, I think Disney Studios has more to keep you occupied. Dinosaur is great, from entryway theming to the ride itself. Its bumpy, disorienting, and thrilling. Tough To Be A Bug is typical Disney, clever and fun but, I agree, a bit too intense for younger kids. I would highly recommend both attractions to anyone who visits Animal Kingdom.
