We're going in April and really have no idea where to ear dinner at Disney Hollywood Studios. The Brown Derby? Mama Melrose's? 50's Prime Time Cafe? Hollywood & Vine?

I really don't have a clue. Any ideas?

I've eaten at both 50's and Mama's. Both were really good and I would eat at either again. We walked out of the Sci Fi, after waiting over 10 minutes for a server to show up and greet us and get our drink order we figured it wasn't worth our time.

50's Primetime and Sci-Fi are 2 of our favorite restaurants on WDW property!! They both have yummy food and really fun atmosphere!

50's prime time is one that we never miss have been there close to 20 times! always fun and the s'mores dessert is so yummy. mama's was ok, no atmosphere, like any other italian eatery. sci fi is iffy, fun to be there not much on the menu for a picky eater. holly and vine haven't been there in years, my kids are too big for the character buffet. have a great trip!

Not old, just vintage.
Hollywood and Vine is a great dinner buffet. I have always found there to be a large selection of great food. I definitely always get my moneys worth.

You should go back to Hollywood and Vine for dinner. It is only a Playhouse Disney buffet for lunch. I think it switches over around 3:30pm. The dinner selection is much better than lunch too.

Loved Sci-Fi. I have food allergies and they are very helpful and accomidating. Fodd was really great too. Great atmosphere and an all over great experience. You will never forget it!!

For a neat experience Sci-Fi, we never had a bad meal. If your looking for a treat, Brown Derby I think is excellent. Love the citrus pan fried grouper :slurp: Prime time is OK and have never tried Hollywood & Vine.

I really like Mama Melrose, Sci-Fi, and 50's Primetime. Mama Melrose has delicious italian food if you're more about the quality of the meal as oppposed to the atmosphere which is basically like any normal restaurant. Sci-Fi has great food and the themed restaurant is a lot of fun with the old-fashioned car tables and drive-in screen. 50's is hilarious with classic meals that "mama used to make", the kitchen atmosphere, and the funny waiters who aren't afraid to scold you in front of the kitchen for getting out of line. Any of these restaurants are definitely worth trying out! Hope this helps!

definitely love Sci-Fi for the atmosphere. Food is average, but if you have kids with you, they will absolutely love the drive in movie feel. I know my DS sure look to eat here!

I'd look aver the menus for all of the Hollywood Studios restaurants and choose based on who is serving what you'd like to eat.

I like Brown Derby for its atmosphere, and a few real winners on the dinner menu. It's the closest to elegant, "adult" dining you'll probably find anywhere in Hollywood Studios. 50's Prime Time is a lot more fun, and the menu is filled with safer "comfort food" choices, but I still feel like it's more of a lunch place.

Sci-Fi Dine In is alright. Nothing special, even by Disney theme park standards, but if you're looking for safe, functional, and mostly edible food they probably won't disappoint.

Other than the Backlot fast food burger joint I haven't eaten much at Hollywood Studios, other than Brown Derby, 50s Prime Time and Sci-Fi Dine In. I usually try to be in another park when I'm hungry.

I like the ambience of sci-fi but I would say that the food is just ok. Like others have mentioned, if you want an adult sit down mean Brown Derby is really nice. It's slipped a bit over the years (they used to have a pianist playing during dinner) but it's still a nice restaurant with good food.

Personally, eat CS at DHS, and save the cash for a good TS like Jiko at a later date. Brown Derby was decent, but expensive for what it is. Prime Time 50's, Sci Fi are both much better for the theming and the atmosphere than the food. Mama Melrose was regular italian, nothing special, but the prices were high. They also seem to be perennially short staffed/over booked as we have always either seen a massive wait (with no walk ups available) or when we did eat there, service was slow to respond, but also rushed to get us out. Look for a good CS meal, perhaps over in front of Beauty and the Beast or take the trip to a resort for dinner that evening.

I had a HORRIBLE experiance at 50's my last trip in DEC...However the 4 other times I have been there it has been WONDERFUL. The fried chicken is great. The brownie dessert is very simple yet it is a good ending to the meal. Sci Fi, to me...is simply for atmosphere. The food is good but you have such a good time enjoying whats around you that you dont pay much attention to the food.

I had an idea. Has anyone ever left the park in, say late afternoon, and gone to have dinner at one of the nearby hotels then returned for Fantasmic? How far is the Boardwalk and the Swan and Dolphin?

Yeah...Those resorts you mentioned are REALLY close. Prob a 10 minute walk...or 5 minute ferry ride. I would stick to those resorts though. Anything else catching a bus could take a while getting to and from.

The resorts you mentioned are close, but if it is busy you may miss getting a seat at Fantasmic. You can always go after the show, this works especially well if there is an early show scheduled.

I personally like many of the restaurants at DHS. You should choose depending on what you are looking for.

The Brown Derby is a really nice sit down meal. The atmosphere is busy and bustling compared to other higher end eateries, but that is part of the fun. I would request a booth. They are worth the wait.

Mama Melrose is great food with a real family Italian restaurant feel. I recommend this to people who want a nice table service, but are looking for a good value.

50's Primetime is great fun if you are ready to really get in the spirit of having Mom bicker with you as you eat. The food is good hearty fare.

Sci-Fi is a unique dining experience with family food--burgers and dogs. It is great for film buffs and those of us old enough to remember going to the drive-in.

Hollywood and Vine is a good buffet. Lots of choices if you have some picky eaters.
