Hey everyone ive decided to not make adr's and just walk in and eat when im ready instead of having o be somewere at a certain time which i hate. My question is am i oing to have a difficult time sitting down and eating in the park. The reason i ask is because i cant help but notice alot of people are getting reservations and i havent even thought about that. I will be arriving at disney in 2 weeks what should i be exspecting when it comes to eating at the park and is there alot of restaurants for me to choose from?

It's free dining. Everyone is getting their max bang for the free buck. I'd suggest going & searching ADRs to see what's out there. Also, take a smart phone with you so you can make ADRs on the fly the day of. Good luck. WDW without ADRs is a novel idea to a bunch of fanatical over planners. The whole ADR thing is something I once loved but have truly grown to loathe...

Our past trips have been in January, when it's supposed to be fairly slow. At quite a few restaurants, we saw walk-ins getting turned away because the restaurant was booked. That said, we did usually go during peak times (11:30 ~ 1:00 for lunch and 5:30 ~ 7:00 for dinner), so if you went off-peak, you may have better luck.

Yes. You will have issues.

Trying to walk up to restaurants at WDW is not impossible, but it is about as close to impossible as you can get.

About the only park where walk up dining is reasonably south of impossible during free dining is Epcot. MK currently has only 4 table service restaurants, 2 of which book out 6 months in advance. DHS has 5 and AK has only 3, most of which book up quickly. Off the top of my head Epcot has around 14 table service restaurants but about half of them book up very quickly like at the other parks.

I would make what reservations you can now. Baring that, if you have a smart phone bookmark the Disney mobile dining page. From there you can search all available restaurants on property based on time, location, etc. From there you can make a reservation either day of, day before, etc.

In the parks? Yes, it's going to be difficult finding table service meals to accommodate you if you limit it to restaurants inside the parks. You may not have as much trouble getting seated at the resort restaurants, especially if you stay away from the popular character meals and buffets in favor of the quieter cafés and lounges.

Yup. you will. Some more than others, but I wouldn't expect to have short waits anywhere. Make those ADR's if you can and save yourself the trouble.

I have Disney Dining on my speed dial (literally), but even that doesn't help sometimes if I'm not calling six months in advance. On the other hand, if you don't get ADR at a restaurant you really want to go to, you can walk in to the restaurant first thing in the morning and ask if they can fit you in that day or if they'll call you if there is a cancellation. They'll try to accommodate you, but you'll still be bound by a time to return.

I might do that i need to start looking into having at least 1 dinner plan at each park or like you was saying if i walk by i could ask for later times and then come back.

If you want to eat at table service restaurants, go to the website today, plug in your dates and see what is open.

If you are dead set on eating in a park, then try to book them now. It may not be how you want to eat, but it's the nature of the beast. You can definitely chance it and walk up, but be prepared to either eat at very off hours (10, 3, 10) or have to do CS. If you don't mind possibly spend a few hours to travel to a resort to eat and then back, then you should be able to check day of and see what is available.
