it completely is a rip off of illuminations with the globes and the movie wrapped around (except they have 3...those copiers) and I cannot believe they did that. I'm kind of angry at the moment and can't verbally express this very well hahah

Isn't everything that USF does a rip off. I mean Disney in Cali, universal opens theme park in Cali. Disney World in Orlando, Universal Studios opens in Orlando. The only thing they do not copy is the quality of the product. Its like the difference in Bud Light and Colt 45, they will both get you intoxicated, but, one leaves a nasty taste in your mouth.

wow, and i hated that universal commercial " if fairy tales and pixie dust aren't your thing..." well it is, so shut up USF:fork: !!!!!1 hahaha

Yeah, that burns me too! But not nearly as much as the last one with "if I have to hug one more princess on my vacation I will hurl" commercial.

People like both.. and that is their right to, no matter how wrong they are...
Universal cannot hold Disney's jock... Personally, if I wanted "thrills" I would go to Great Adventure, not IOA or Universal... I go to Disney to escape the stress and pressures of the real world... Disney takes you away.. Where does Universal take you?? No where.. No magic what so ever... And please, stop trying to compare there two... There is no comparison.. Disney rocks while Universal continues to bring up the rear... Disney shouldbe flattered that others have tried and failed in mimicking Disney... Universal wasn't the first and won't be the last.. I mean, look at SeaWorld's new show for Shamu.. BELIEVE??? Come on.. That is right out of Disney's book... And the commerical for the new show is Disney-esque... I am not offended by any of Universal's boring commericals...

So it's ok for the WDW "fans" to do it to the Universal parks?

I thought this "360" thing looks OK...

Just from looking at the video, it doesn't seem to have much of a "touch my heart" factor. But then again,...isn't Universal marketing "against" that kind of thing?

"Come to Universal!!,...We don't get all mushy or magical like Disney does"

or

"Come to Universal,..take a break from all that "heart warming" junk from those other parks,.."

It seemed like a cool rear projection screen,..better than the "LED" technology that Illuminations uses.

All in all,..the show was a cross between "Illuminations" and the very end of "Great Movie Ride".

CT

Oh,..I loved those "hidden mickeys" in their fireworks!

No please read my whole post.

Point taken:wave:!!

But he could have pointed out the positives about Universal and the like, rather than insulting Disney fans as a whole and making fun of the Disney parks. Fighting fire with fire is not always the answer, and the results of doing such are not always what you intended them to be.

But I do agree that its not entirely out of the question that Universal did borrow some ideas from Illuminations for their fireworks show, and as I said before there is nothing wrong with that. Insulting Universal for doing as such is no better than what Abian did. Some people here are very close minded about Universal, or any park other than WDW. :brick:

I'm saying insulting in general is not okay, but I'm saying coming into a Disney forum and tossing out insults about Disney is just trolling, in my opinion. Now don't get me wrong, its fine that he wanted to defend Universal, I commend him for doin as such. But to toss out generalized insults about WDW fans and the WDW parks in a WDW forum, is just asking for trouble. :hammer:

I think it's not so bad of a show. I agree it does looke like a bit of illuminations and the end of the great movie ride.

I agree that if it weren't for Universal, WDW would have a lot less things in it, Expedition Everst, RNR, ToT come to mind.

Without Universal, you would have nothing to compare against, therefore how would you be able to invent your "higher standards" in Disney?
:D

I believe that "higher standards" were on Walt's mind long before a Universal park could be imagined. And they were incorporated and refined into Disneyland and WDW from the day they opened.

I think this IS a critical point,...I mean, let's give credit where credit is due.

Universal identified a Disney demographic "hole",...and that was the "thrill seeking" teenagers and early 20's types. Let's face it, they started targeting those people specifically and were able to cash in on it.

WDI was forced to rethink their attraction plans to bring that group back (while trying not to alienate the rest of the Disney faithful)

We can partially thank Universal pressure for the great Disney thrill rides that we have today. Even Disney Imagineers would have to admit that they carefully watched what Universal was doing to their business. ( That's no secret)

Look at "Spider Man",...wow,..that ride really raised the bar for all simulators. It's one of the best you will ride at any park anywhere in the world. ( I feel that Indiana Jones in DL is right up there too,...far better than "Dinosaur" (Countdown to Extinction) at Animal Kingdom.)

Very good point.

Yes,...Universal competition has been great for Disney fans

Um,...well,...I hate to break this to you but you are not "grammatically" correct either.

And,..also..It's is "grammatically" frowned upon to start a sentence with "And" the way you did. (and me too...but mine was deliberate)

Ouch,......lol

According to your logic, the globe shoud not be the elements taken from Disney. I see no reason why Globe shouldn't be a genre. They are compelelty two different apporach of using LED and projection. The quality of the film using projection is so much better than LED. You called that taken fom Disney???? Every fair tales in Disney is copied from Eroupe. How about that?

1. Globe isn't a genre. It's an element or trend of an attraction. If anything it is a trope.

2. That's not my logic at all. Infact, that doesn't even make sense.

3. Sure, stories came from Europe. So what's your point? I'm sure there's a valid point in there somewhere? You just need to articulate it better.

I say put this thread to rest. We haven't settled anything except that Universal is great except when it sucks, and that Disney is great except when they allow themselves to be ripped off, and that people like both and thats OK. I am not gonna click on this one again.

To each his own. I don't see the big problem with universal. i really dont see how any one can hate it. i mean, it's a fun park. it's really fun. It's not disney. i love disney. that doesn't mean i cant have a great time at universal too. it all depends on what u like. i dont hate sea world because they dont have enough rides. i cant see how anyone could have such a big problem with universal. pretty much every park in orlando is fun. some are just more fun that other.
